Pocketable Android phone that's not made of shattering glass. I liked my S5 - good performance, waterproof, good camera, replaceable battery, IR. It even had a headphone port for people that remember what that is.
We have the iPhone 12 mini, standard and pro - they are expensive, run iOS, have an ugly notch and made of glass. Then Pixel 5, Xperia 5 ii, S20 and S21 - overpriced and/or underwhelming.
Since 2019 there hasn't been any phone that caught my attention (after reviews) and 2021 isn't shaping up to be much better.
Dometalican, 21 Dec 2020"more variety, the better"
Ain't that the truth.Well there are only two exceptions :
*Bad things (diseases, pollution, criminals, etc).
*Things that are valuable when rare (Art, unique places of X or Y type, rare stones that aren't used to manufacture objects, etc).
But I mean, those are no brainers.
THE item is not on the list: a better battery for longer battery life and smaller sized phone (i.e. the Samsung S5 - or a bit smaller) with better screen sizes..
F**k everything. I just want a decent smaller, handy smartphone with metallic frame. That's it
i wish to see better material for foldable phone this year (2021) since it will further compact the phone to half the regular 19:9 6" size. razr does pique my interest but we need to wait until the tech fully matured
More diversity in screen sizes, tired of seeing huge phones only if you want a good combo of features, build quality and price : the Pixel 4a where it's at, not great, but certainly one of the only options for me.
One word : Diversity.
Those kind of posts/articles are the hard proof that there isn't a single perfect feature, everyone have its own tastes.
For exemple, I'd love a phone with a pop up front camera that have 3D face recognition.
Or no front camera and rather use the main sensor on the back, including the 3D depth sensor that act as face recognition sensor.
Big phone, thick, flat display (real 2D, not the 2.5D), 3.5mm Jack, excellent camera, etc.
While others want the exact opposite.
The more variety, the better.
I didn't expect that I wouldn't find anything to vote. All of these are of no meaning to me.
I look forward for a small (
Smaller flagships, not bigger every year! New Android flagships are HUGE, one needs a bag to carry them!
Anonymous, 20 Dec 2020"The future of gaming is not in hardware stuff" Are you really typed that? Ok now tr... moreBut games do need to get better especially with the amount of power we have on modern smartphones.
Back in 2012-2013, I thought when the hardware on smartphones matches upto a low end PC, we'll have PC type games in our pockets.
I thought we'd already have the PC ported version of the latest gaming titles by now.
But sadly, Beyond a few emulators, the general catalogue of games on smartphones doesn't do justice to the Hardware power available.
Anonymous, 20 Dec 2020Ever heard of s10e? It's 99% same flagship specs on compact as iphone 12 mini but i guess... moreOr an even better Galaxy S20 which Gsmarena said was the best compact phone of 2020.
IpsDisplay, 20 Dec 2020We need battery endurance increase, and miniled (Lcd) screens to replace Oled in flagship phon... moreYes so many people were happy with durable premium feeling plastic backs.
Suddenly after glass sandwich design became the norm, plastic is clubbed in "cheap feel" category by every reviewer despite having durability advantage over glass which is more likely to crack with falls.
RazrFlip, 20 Dec 2020None of the above. Note 21 with Flat 16:9 screen and 5000 mAh battery please. Agree. I also want to see the return to 16x9 screens as not everyone want to watch Cinemascope movies on their phone.
Looks like the features wanted by people, are small and compact phones.
131.5 x 64.2 x 7.4 mm (5.18 x 2.53 x 0.29 in) - iPhone 12 mini
Put that into the phone finder GSMARENA.
Set hight = 135 to 140mm
Set width = 66 to 68mm
Set thickness = 7 to 8mm.
Look at all the phones on the top of the list.. All Apples. hahaha
How about a small phone that's also light making it easy to carry and hold which used to be the primary inspiration behind the mobile phone?
