Dometalican, 20 Dec 2020That's not a good list. I want new battery tech. Where's the graphene or sodium-ion ... moreThat tech is artifically held back by big corporations because it's too good. You can be certain that they will pair the battery to the mainboard just like Apple, when it ends up releasing in 40 years...They are probably even going to solder the battery to the chassis so you have to buy a new phone.
Anonymous, 20 Dec 2020What are you doing that current chipsets aren't capable of? They have tons of power, the ... moreThey are capable but heavy users won't be satisfied anyway.
| If 2019 was the year of 5G, and 2020 was supposed to be the year of the UD camera, what will 2021 be about?
I don't think that's the case, 2020 can be said to have more and better 5G phones than some seldom exclusives in 2019.
2019 is when some decent phones with value for money actually started coming.
2021 will be all these things and IMO should also be when we get future proof phones (Exynos 1080, SD 775G, 3yrs of Android OTA updates, etc.)
It would also be great to get ALL the hardware features under the hood like IR, DLNA, NFC, FM Radio, 3.5 mm jack - like the perfect all rounder a phone should've been in the first place.
What I care the most about; high-refresh panels becoming the norm, phones have gotten pretty nicely rid of 60 Hz this year alone, though. :)
Dometalican, 20 Dec 2020That's not a good list. I want new battery tech. Where's the graphene or sodium-ion ... moreThis tech is not even available for cars, phone will never see it.
ericwang, 20 Dec 2020UDC cant work with QHD display now
QHD screen mean the screen have 450+PPI,while currently UD... morePPI alone does not make screen QHD.
New iphones have 460ppi.
12 Pro Max have 723.960 less pixels than Samsung S6.
That's not a good list. I want new battery tech. Where's the graphene or sodium-ion batteries? We need new batteries that are more efficient, take faster charging without AS MUCH damage, and can even be at a lower mAH but be equivalent to Li-polymer with twice that capacity. We've hit peak so far on display and camera. The focus NEEDS to head towards the most important aspect in a phone.
UDC cant work with QHD display now
QHD screen mean the screen have 450+PPI,while currently UDC area can only reach 280PPI max. That will make that area look strangey(In the same time,FHD screen have only 320+PPI,so it is OK )
So for smartphone company, QHD+hole screen or FHD+UDC...
I used to poke fun at ultrasharp sensors but the more pictures I have to take (for uni, utility, or just fun), the more I realize there are cases when fine detail is essential. Fine as in, capturing the smallest there can be, not on the atomic level ofc :D but the closer the better. Dummy thicc megapixel numbers without that detail, let alone cheap interpolation tactics, are NOT what I mean. But if it's more viable to make sensors more precise by creating a finer grid, rather than tackling other variables, and messing with the optics that make it into phones (i.e. smth not sensor related at all), then why not.
And the jack. Yes pls.
I'd love to suggest ...
1. Removable battery FTW!
2. Vendors licensing GCam
3. Alarm clocks which work with the phone is physically turned off
4. Universal stereo speakers
5. Good telephoto camera (at least 3x)
Wow, many bets in under display instead. I am one of them too. To be honest, it's not as a grandeur as other wishlist features - we've been chasing to achieve this for years, but it's a small step towards gaining others.
As much as we like disappearing camera, as we can see, vendors are actually starting abandoned it for unknown reasons. Mi 9T/Pro seemed to be a great product, yet somehow xiaomi discontinued the retractable camera for its newer phones - maybe they find some fatal flaws in it, or others unknown reasons.
Anonymous, 20 Dec 2020I'm a speed hungry person. Give me rocket fast smartphone without any camera. What are you doing that current chipsets aren't capable of? They have tons of power, the real problem would be not having enough apps make full use of it. Or do you only cafe about opening apps 0.5 seconds faster?
How about fm radio and headphone jack in flagships ? They keep assuming people dont want them
My only dream feature right now is a compact android phone, like the size of iPhone 12 mini.
Sick of being forced to buy huge phones that we used to call "Phablets" just 5 years ago.
AnonD-889996, 20 Dec 2020I want PC or AAA games being optimized for ARM, so Nvidia expanding to ARM is my choicePlaying an immersive story driven game on a 6.5" display is like having s*x at 80 years old. Lol.
Also, why pay 1000EUR for a tiny device to game on it? With that money you can get yourself a nice next gen console and big TV screen. No comparison.
Also, the future of gaming is not in hardware stuff, but in streaming and internet speeds. Thus being said, you will have the same gaming experience between a 200eur phone and a 1000eur phone, if you really need the portability.
Sorry, but my answer is None of the Above. My wishlist for 2021 is simple. Reasonable size (and price), 3.5mm Jack, Stereo Speakers, full day battery life (not fast charging or wireless charging), Clean and stock Android, 3-4 years of software support (OS updates and security updates) and last but not the least, charger and earphone in the box.
Larger capacity batteries.
