Google is getting greedy. No more benefits and less free stuff from now on. At least registration is still free, for now.

I don't think people will be inactive for two years. You can just sign in and sign out to prevent the deletion.

Why not give it a try again? Try to delete now...
To the best of my knowledge there's some account deletion procedure.

Their last decision was to make Photos storage limited and with lower resolution (3.15 MP~). And all they have about us is probably cat and dog and family photos.
It seems the system is collapsing and they're managing it for now.
About time the NSA front end company realised that they can't have unlimited storage... and people power still exists.

I tried to delete my account 6 years ago and it was not possible. If I input my email into facebook sign up it is still possible to access my account. Wish it was completed deleted as I absolutely do not want that facebook account.

I actually like this idea. Out of all Google services mentioned in the article, I only use Drive and Photos.
This is a reasonable approach.
If you hadn't used your FREE account at least once in 2 years, it's unlikely you'll ever need it again. However, if it's a PAID account then Google shouldn't delete it. For example, I pay monhtly for my Google One subscription; Google shouldn't delete my account.
Facebook should implement such storage policy immediately. Most of users had created new account on FaceBook in early years just out of curiosity. After 2015, most of them were shifted to WhatsApp and had stopped using FaceBook. So their accounts are anyway inactive now.
The reason they said it was because too much useless users that aren't active, that's true. But i think the main obvious reason is that Google's storage is reaching its limits, maybe?
