It's a bad deal to buy a flagship for 700-800 and some months later another flagship comes out. Why? Because you'll lose a lot of value. This is part of the explanation why the iPhone maintains it's value throughout the year, because Apple only launches a flagship per year and people know their value is assured.

They copy Apple way too much
Yet can’t adopt their strategy when it comes to flagships
Especially while not respecting their paying customers that pay a huge price for their flagships that get outdated in a few months
With the iPhone 12, you’ll know that You’ll get the upgrade the next year
With Xiaomi? Maybe in a month
                    Never mind the lousy updates
You will need 2 to 3 months to receive a security update

I hate to say but this mi11 will be as unattractive as mi10. Mediocre camera system with shiny curved screen. The pro will be the interesting one and hopefully this time it comes with a lower price.

Some information on the poster that Gsmarena dont tell you.
The 轻装上阵 mean 'go into battle with a light pack'(direct translation),in Chinese it means The Mi11 will be lighter.
                                    According leak information,the Mi11 is 180-190g weight,compare to Mi10's 208g.
Another thing is,the poster said'Mi11 launch event',instead of hMi11 series launch event',from some source Mi11Pro will arrive 1 month later.I dont sure if 28th Dec launch event will include Mi11Pro,or it will have a seprate launch event at Jan,2021.
Both version have QHD 120Hz screen.
The standard version have 108MP main camera(HMX,1/1.33in)+13MP Ultra wide+5MP telephoto marco
                                    The Pro version have 50MP(Samsung GN2,improve version of GN1)+48MP ultra wide(IMX586)+48MP 5times telephoto lens(IMX586,same as Mi10Ultra)
An Ultra version is confirmed but will be much later.

AnonD-814624, 22 Dec 2020Why? A new phone doesn't change their existing phoneYes it does. Not immediately. But every company tends to care about their latest models. One because it's easier and second because they are forcing people to buy the latest models all the time.
Usually people buying the latest and greatest in phones, are the ones that change their phones frequently. I mean the ones that have a very good financial situation. Companies saw this opportunity and they have become greedier. They don't want profit once per year anymore, they want profit 2-3 times per year. Because, the people that I mentioned above, will change their phones 2 times per year now.
