My current Samsung Note 4, even running custom ROM, couldn't store enough data for all installed apps especially WhatsApp backup. In the end, I have to get a microSD card to transfer all the docs and media files from the internal storage. Thankfully, Telegram now supports the ability to store data on the microSD card so that is a big win for me.

YUKI93, 29 Dec 2020I definitely wouldn't call microSD card slot stupid. That is single-handedly the most use... moreno dude the most useful feature is the port, i personally never use a sd card since i can get away with even 32 gigs of storage on my phone

Just check Asian Realme forums and you'll encounter enough users with this issue. Even the higher 6i and 7i also suffers from this.

That day when Google Cloud servers went down, I have zero trouble using my microSD card slot to access all the files offline. As for IR blaster, I wouldn't comment on that since I don't use it.

With the exception of the Xiaomi and the ASUS, I agree with this list. The S20 FE 5G is a worthy affordable flagship alternative, the iPhone 12 mini signals a comeback for smaller-sized phones, and the OnePlus is a super capable premium flagship. As much as I like the Xiaomi, it's a China-only smartphone, so importing one won't be cheap. As for the ASUS, I might consider picking the ZTE nubia Red Magic 5S instead.

At least there still exist someone from GsmArena who understands what many people expect from smartphones: A functional device that is reliable and just does the job. I have never understood what the folds, the wings and the curves in smartphones really achieve. Also, astronomical prices do not mean better user experience; examples are the "ultra" and "pro max" smartphones.
