Android Authority, 30 Dec 2020Animation fix to 0.5x or turning them off has been present on Android since it's inception. Yes, my point was the MIUI lag so many are complaining about has a quick fix. As you said, it's nothing new. I have yet to see a reviewer or Youtuber mention this.

KimbraMe, 28 Dec 2020Android Go, maybe? Android still hogs on resources as ever and anything below 4GB RAM is downr... moreYes, for consistently smooth experience with a device full of apps 4 GB is the minimum on android. But here I was comparing stock android with other android skins from manufacturers which are factory filled with truck load of company provided applications and processes.
That's why barebones stock android runs much better on low end devices.
Android Go on the other hand is a further stripped stock android for very low end devices with 1-2 GB Ram and underperforming SOCs which might have performance comparable to 7-8 year old midrange chips.

Also, I've replaced batteries on a couple of older devices: a Redmi Note 3 and a Mi Max, and the phones were good as new after. The Mi Max got 11+ hr SOT right after the replacement.

By the way, Xiaomi charged only $21 each time for battery replacement. Do you know how much Apple and Samsung charge?

It's slowed down considerably since, especially in MIUI 12 with the long and elaborate animations. The easy fix is to turn animation off and it takes less than a minute to do so.

MIUI has been laggy since 11 till early 12 roms. Especially recents and notification panel lags were terrible.
However it is very easy to install a custom rom on their phones.
Being able to remove most of the system apps is great and a good step forward.
I have my 4th Xiaomi phone and if Xiaomi did below that would be even greater.
Narrow down models and start optimizing miui with better updates with less models to work with.
Have better labelling of their models to get rid of confusion. (2 different note 9 pros, why?)
Stop that under display fingerprint shit. It is nowhere near as good as back one or even side one. Also when you have a small damage, the fingerprint becomes obsolete. You can ask many note 10 lite users.
Stop that curved display. It is hard to use with cases and screen protectors.
I have a relatively huge hand and even I have hard times to handle or fit that bricks in my pocket. Anything above 160x75 mm makes it a burden to handle.

About MIUI: please add these features:
Double tap to sleep on homescreen.
Hiding apps from homescreen.
Adaptive rotation

The MIUI that makes the Xiaomi phones garbage. I like my rooted Note 4 with pixel ROM, and hate my Note 8 Pro with MIUI. If my N8P dies I´ll buy something else, not Xiaomi. Never again!

Alb, 29 Dec 2020Lol you call IOS garbage?! What is wrong with you, MIUI it's just a copy of so called gar... moreiOS can only dream about being as advanced as miui.
lol it took them 10 years to deliver basic widgets and app drawer all of which are still half baked and full of bugs.
Even budget devices are embarrassing iOS in terms of software features and ease of use.

3rd party apps are crashing more on iOS than Android. I wonder why? Maybe coz Android is simply more optimized than iOS.
All the Optimization PR campaign from Apple has been badly exposed in the real world.
Handicapped ecosystem of iOS will never be as polished as Android.
Keep dreaming!

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2020I agree that the battery has taken a hit but Miui 12 is faster and more responsive than Miui 1... moreThe battery will keep on deteriorating until they force you to buy Mi 11. They know that when a battery is bad the customer thinks their phone is done. Even buying a new battery doesn't help. It's the poor power management for the phones they're trying to kill. Unless you get MIUI 12.5 straight out of the box forget
