Xiaomi is garbage. Only sells hardware. You have to look & install your own software. Check XDA for Custom ROMS support if available for the Xiaomi device before buying otherwise not good. And you have to be tech savvy not for commoners.

Don't buy garbage phone's and you won't have this issue. Pretty simple.

Anonymous, 06 Jan 2021Isn't Google responsible for developing Android One and Android Go? Yes, but the compatibility with the hardware is the responsibility of the manufacturer, Xiaomi in this case.

AnonD-973296, 05 Jan 2021how often is MIUI updated?MIUI is updated 2 times on entry - mid-range phone, and sometimes they will get one android update (if your device is lucky then you might get two android update)

Xiaomi usually only support the device for 18 month. Example is Redmi Note 8 & Redmi Note 8 Pro support will be ended around first quartal or mid of 2021, despite bring released in August 2019.

Only flagships that always confirmed to get 2 MIUI update with 2 android update.

MIUI isn't recommended, but MIUI 12.5 might change that, let's see.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2021Miui is much more stable and smooth. Stay away from android one. What? Android one is the most stable and most smooth android build ever, along with Pixel's Android. It is because it is almost not modified android, so it's performance is better than heavily skinned android.

In this case the updated brick because their fault, probably Xiaomi doesn't like android one, that's why there is no Mi A4

No, they weren't always below 250Eur. In many EU countries the official pricing started at 279Eur, and that is for the cheapest version. It was quite easy to spend more than 300Eur for an official "EU" Mi A3. Gray imports are a different matter altogether... it was quite easy to get one below 140Eur. The legitimate customers who purchased the Mi A3 at those steeper prices straight from an official Xiaomi store expected more than the ones buying a gray import -- that was possibly a reflashed Miui chinese version, because Android One had a premium just for the support. That's the whole point, the hardware might have been cheap, but you paid a steep price for that support -- are those EU customers getting what they paid for? It sure as heck doesn't look like it, given all the bricks.

At some point Xiaomi realized that good spec sheet sell phones, not software experience and even less software support, at least for majority of people.
