These specs are of course for the mid rangers. High end, expensive phones with these specs are a joke.
Arbiter, 10 Jan 2021Should've given a 90hz option. 90hz should be the minimum. Sweet spotIkr
A 1440p, 120Hz Flat amoled screen, 6.3"--6.5"screen and preferably 16:9 to 18:9AR.
Would have loved to see two other metrics added to the discussion ( Aspect ratio and screen size) since we are talking about screens. I really would like to see more on aspect ratio..at least have a choice of a few phones in the upper mid-range category with 16:9--18:9 aspect ratios. Sweet sport for screen size for me is between 6.3" to 6.5".
maxmin, 10 Jan 20212K is the same as 1080P. The 2K is from the hozontal pixels of a standard 16:9 tv or 1920 x ... moreWhen people say "2K" they actually refer to QHD (2560x1440). 2K is just cinema FHD (usually 2048x1080 with 21:9 aspect ratio). 4K is cinema UHD (4K is 4096x2160 with 21:9 aspect ratio while UHD is 3840x2160 with 16:9 aspect ratio). 2K and 4K have 21:9 aspect ratio, so they are used more commonly in film. FHD/QHD/UHD have a 16:9 aspect ratio (16:9 is the standard aspect ratio), so they are used pretty much everywhere.

Minimal difference(per se), but there is difference and you are wrong in that statement:
Depends on purpose and the hardware itself, personally, i will not need a high refresh rate screen if the soc itself aren't powerful enough to run the 1080p screen @120Hz/90Hz, and that's not awesome at all. But if the phone itself have a superb soc&hardware + good software so it will be nice if the phone have a high refresh rate & at least 1080p@120Hz. That's it. The high refresh rate screen are not just gimmick and very nice to enjoy some gaming/content with it for that point, but if they (brand) use it for every entry level/low end budget smartphone with poor chipset n hardware, that's trully a useless gimmick.
I haven't voted as there is simply NOT "one fits all" approach. High refresh rate is great for gamers and some people that require everything top notch and are "picky".
Full HD and normal refresh rate is for the normal user. It is definitely enough for daily use and I would dare to say 80% users. On this site, it will be different as the people here are mobile fans and expect best. I grew up from that group and prefer "good allrounder" based on what I use - not what I see as a pretty number.
No 720p and 480p options?
Should've given a 90hz option. 90hz should be the minimum. Sweet spot
Rumors say that beside Sony 1iii, two other flagships are gonna have 3840x1644 screen.
One of them would be LG V70.
I hope it is Note 21 Ultra, to see people lable it as "must have" feature in 2022. LOL !!!!!!
1080 / 120 / Amoled / flat
For screens smaller than 6", 1080p is enough. For bigger, 1440p.
I like how smooth 120Hz is, but it's completely unnecessary for phones. High clarity is more important.
And flat all the way.
Anonymous, 10 Jan 2021on a choice between 120hz lcd or 60hz oled i chose 60hz oled but on a choice between 2... more2K is the same as 1080P. Who voted to 60 Hz has ever used a 90 Hz or 120 Hz device? 60 Hz just awful after a high refresh rate display imo.
Anonymous, 10 Jan 2021With the s20 series, Samsung's been secretly checking user's settings and learned mo... moreNo. It comes 60Hz as default and most people do not even know they can change.
Not everybody read tech sites to know this kind of stuff.
I highly doubt 0,1% of users know the OS is called android.
Vangmay, 10 Jan 202190Hz 1080p flat is perfectAgreed
Fun to see the stats. But it's no use anyway. They build their phones exactly as they want. Not after how we want it.
AnonD-923722, 10 Jan 2021Mid rangers chips don't even have the power to run 120fps, so 90hz is the sweet spotIf the chip maker says it has, it has enough.
DroidBoye, 10 Jan 2021I prefer flat, HRR (atleast 90Hz) adaptive, and 1080p display. 1440p is a diminishing return I... morePixel 4 switches between 60-90Hz to save some power. But this does not save enough.
Not even going down to 1Hz like Sharp phones is gonna make significant difference.
Because just in few situations, the RR changes to low value. It is mostly gonna stay at highest value.
One things is Amoled or IPS Panel
