Anonymous, 08 Jan 2021There are a lot of things to hate about (vanilla) S21, but the 64MP "fake zoom" came... moreAs if others don't do the same, but also give you good optical zoom. There is NO excuse for Samsung asking those prices. Only the Ultra for who wants to spend that much is an equivalent of what Samsung offered in the past. The rest are ultra overpriced, and even more without accesories. Only the first batch preordered and few limited time they'll give something for free, then will no even worth consider them.

notafanboy, 08 Jan 2021The non-ultraS21, the one with FAKE zoom? Are you serious?!?!?There are a lot of things to hate about (vanilla) S21, but the 64MP "fake zoom" camera is not one of them. In fact, I'd say Samsung is actually a genius for coming up with this camera.
On paper, the optical zoom level is 1.1x, so it's really a wide angle camera. However, because it's a 64MP camera, you can crop it to get zoomed-in images (which would be lossless relative to the main camera's 12MP resolution). For example, if you crop the 64MP image to 12MP, you get about 2.5x zoom over the main camera.
The genius part comes from the flexibility this camera offers: You can take full resolution images (and 8K video) which are extremely detail rich, or you can do lossless zooming *at any level* between 1x and 2.5x, things that a 12MP 2.5x telephoto simply can't do.
But as I said in the beginning, the vanilla S21 is downgraded so much that the last year's S20 is actually better in many respects.

There's reason phone is in half price compare t... moreya but experience is not as good with custom ROM, like i said, i am accustomed to OneUI which i kinda sometimes prefer over stock android. For me, samsung always delivers in every department for me from camera to handheld experience to build quality. there is a chance that they might come out with a fan edition, so i will wait for like a month or two to see if there are any other options and if not, i will just get the S21

Only the s21 ultra has the old Samsung's standard.. Other two variants are nothing but scam. Every other models with sd 888 from other manufacturers more worthy of buying..
