For me, My Surface Pro 7 is serving my needs well when I want it to be a tablet.
I can always use that as a laptop and get real work done which is simply not possible on Android or iPad OS.
Windows itself makes it a winner, rest of the operating systems just can't compete.
Expensive and pointless. Better go for a regular laptop.

At the time I bought it last January, I wanted to replace my iPad 7, I bought the surface Pro as a replacement but did not like it as a tablet for what I wanted it for and started using it docked as a regular computer and as a laptop as it was my only windows computer. I also owned an iMac at the time and would use RD client to remote in. I eventually bought an iPad mini to use as a tablet. I don't regret the Surface Pro 7. I can still use it as a Tablet if I want a bigger screen. Last month I bought the M1 mac mini and the M1 Macbook Pro. I still use my surface Pro 7. I just can't get away from the Apple ecosystem and I still need a windows computer.
Android--Master, 12 Jan 2021One can easily Run Linux, Android or even iOS inside of Windows with an emulator.
That is the... moreIt could also run OS X in VMware. But that's not the point he's trying to make.
I also think Surface pro is hugely overpriced. The hardware has always been lagging behind and obsolete by the time of any surface product release date.
For someone who doesn't really need windows , someone who has never used windows or wouldn't even need to do any kind of coding or any real demanding tasks, most of these things don't really matter.
For a decent tablet experience the cheapest option is surprisingly an ipad mini and not some android tablet.
For demanding work, it's better to go for a 2-in-one Windows laptop. You could get upto 8 core 16 thread ryzen CPU (4800u) based one's and they're getting even better all at just 15W. 5800u that was announced yesterday is even better.
But intel is not the same. That makes surface pro even less attractive. They only have an Intel option. You get more security issues, a hotter chip, worse performance etc etc for much higher price. There's even a performance hit because of the form factor.
It's easy to use bluestacks on surface pro and get some android apps to run without any issue, but for apps that you really like on android, it's still not as pleasant an experience (for me it's moon plus reader pro). The app store for windows is basically useless. And for use as an office app, you need to use the keyboard which is fine, but still not all that good for typing.
Anyway, what I am saying is that, for a device that never puts the latest/best chips inside it, surface pro is definitely overpriced. And they are doing nothing to justify such a high price.
Unless we see some competition in the tablet space (real competition with a full windows OS), Microsoft is going to keep doing this.

By the way, I'm no Apple fanboy or anything like that. I talked with logic out of personal experience. Had Surface RT & Galaxy Tab 10.2 in the past & having iPad right now. Using Windows 10 for work (coding) for years.

That is the power of Windows.
Can iPad OS do that? Or an Android tablet??
All kinds of professional and personal work can be done on Windows.
Android and Apple tablets are extremely limited by their respective OS.

Windows store?? Have you seen the app and service catalogue of Windows ecosystem?
It's embarrassing to even compare iPad OS to a proper Fully Functional Zero Compromise Operating System like Windows.

This just shows where you come, you clearly aren’t very demanding and don’t care good usability. Lot of Ui elements are too small to touch because they are meant to touch with small mouse pointer. But if you think everything is touch friendly i don’t think we should continue this. Just shows why you don’t understand why surface sales are low and no it’s not the price, it’s the usability and how bad it is as an tablet.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/05/technology/personaltech/microsoft-surface-pro-x-review.html ” Microsoft Surface Pro X Review: Powerful Computer, but So-So Tablet
With its new Surface, Microsoft has made progress blending the best of mobile devices and personal computers. But it falls short in offering a fingertip-friendly experience for tablets.”
” The software was the biggest problem. When you use the device as a tablet, Windows doesn’t properly adapt to become a touchable operating system. Important elements, like the search icon or “X” button to close windows, remained tiny and difficult to tap with a fingertip. Web browser tabs appeared to be jammed into the top of the screen.”
Just like i said
” As a tablet, the iPad Pro was superior to the Surface Pro X’s tablet mode in every way. The iPad Pro’s body was more comfortable to hold. The software system was designed to work with your fingertips: App icons were nice and large, and swipe gestures acted as shortcuts to close apps and return to the home screen”
But like i said you clearly just don’t get these things, which seen many times in Apple articles.
Anonymous, 12 Jan 2021ipad pro is just a consumer tablet with a limited smartphone OS. Surface Pro has full windows OSAnd there are so many other options apart from the Surface Pro 7 which give you a tablet.
Hybrid category is already popular with people. Sure they are expensive but you get what you pay for unlike iPad pro which breaks in half like a biscuit due to its cheap build quality.

Touch is just an advantage. Real keyboard and mouse can be connected to expand the possibilities. External gpu solution possible and tons of other things which are simply not possible on poor build quality iPad Pro with laughable quality IPad OS.
Windows is on a different level. On the Surface Pro tablet, The ".exe" world opens up for the user, which will make your iPad look like a cheap toy with limited tricks.

And that’s pretty much the problem. If you want laptop, with the price of surface you can buy great laptop without compromises. For tablet mode, there’s not that many touch friendly apps. Surface is always meant to used by keyboard and mouse, basicly almost all advertising about surface shows those because they know they can’t keep up with tablet mode.
