It's an even bigger joke than whatever Vimeo has turned to nowadays.

Why is everybody mad raving over this?
Social media platforms have their own rules; if you don't follow them, too bad, you get kicked out.
Banning free speech is banned, but trump can still talk whatever he wants wherever else. Hosting a rally to get his word across? Sure. Hosting a conference? Sure.
Social media platforms are like company-owned conference rooms: They get to decide what CAN be discussed and what can't be discussed. Disallowing something to discuss in THAT particular conference room is allowed because that's not banning freedom of speech, that's just controlling your own platform. Banning something to be said anywhere anytime IS breaking freedom of speech.
A trump supporter could create a website that only allows it's users to say good things about trump and bad things about biden, and that's TOTALLY legal. If you own a computer, you have plenty of websites to choose from. Problem is, not everybody can or has the money to migrate and settle outside of a country, so banning people from saying something there IS violating freedom of speech.

While the guy who made Telegram is Russian he no longer lives in Russia. He first made www.vk.com a Facebook like site that is actually very good. The Russian government wanted information on members of vk but they said no so he was forced to sell it to a billionaire that was more friendly to the Russian government. Telegram was told to let the Russian government see people's messages and Telegram told them they can't because of how the app was set up. The Russian government was worried about terrorism during the 2018 World Cup and tried to block the app but couldn't, now even the Russian government uses Telegram.

Sadly, liberal democracies and free speech are but a flash in human history. Despots, populism, and dogma are the norm.
We may well be moving towards new Dark Ages, which often follow periods of enlightenment. Large corporations generally like dictators, as they can bribe and ingratiate such regimes, while democracies are messy and less predictable.
They are only doing this because trump lost to biden. If he won, i dont think they'd ban him lol.
