Let's wait for Xiaomi MI 11Pro and what it would offered possibly my next phone!
How is nobody talking about the fact that this S21 Ultra charges much slower than the S20 ultra? They went from 45W max down to 25W.
This is a huge blunder, in my opinion.
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021The s21 ultra does not house a S pen right? They sell separate case for that
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021I just read that Samsung has a new remosaic algorithm. This means that the 108 megapixel mode ... moreI guess that is used only in low light situation, where luminance is preferred over resolution
Uneven bezels gross. This is why the iPhone 12 Pro Max is still the king
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021I just read that Samsung has a new remosaic algorithm. This means that the 108 megapixel mode ... moreInteresting, where did you read that information?
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021No.
Oled uses less power than LCD only where black is displayed.
Same amount pf power fo... moreWhat the hell? When did I ever mention LCD and compare its power consumption to OLED's? What I'm saying is that the newer generation OLED panels consume less power than the older ones hence produce less heat (and heat is one of main reasons why organic diodes degrade over time, in case you didn't know).
And no, the panels have been getting increasingly brighter and this is not dependent on the APL. GSMArena's display test shows the max brightness of all panels at 75% APL, and you can see that Note 20 Ultra reaches over 1000 nits which is a lot brighter than, let's say, Note 9 from 2 years ago.
I know you're criticising a high peak brightness just so that you can defend your favourite brand that keeps using ~600nits OLED panel and calls it "professional grade", but it's definitely time for you to move on and accept that is the way to go for smartphone manufacturers. I'm tired of seeing your excessively negative attitude towards Samsung.
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021You don't seem to read what I write? I explained why it is worse. You keep insisting on saying it just restricts area of sensor used , when it is not.
Example. If a sensor has 30MP, but also offer mode 18MP (4:3), 11MP (4:3), this is area restriction. Quality is same of native 18 and 11 MP sensors.
Does not matter if it is bayer , quadbayer or nonacell. Digital zoom is not same of example above.
What I say is the marketing of lossless zoom is just to fool costumers. Digital zoom without loss does not exist.

Both for video and photos.
If there was no quality loss, cameras would use digital zoom. They do not.
Do not find lame excuses to justify the fact samsung removed the 2x camera from previous models just to make ppl want Ultra instead.
Photos taken with main camera at 2x, 3x or 5x are gonna have much lower quality. More artifacts, more noise.
So just buy one from US and import it. As exynos will be 100% slower. 888 is a beast no way exynos will be as fast.
I just read that Samsung has a new remosaic algorithm. This means that the 108 megapixel mode might be sharper than previously. They say that they use twice as many pixels as before, so I guess that Samsung's high resolution mode ignored at least 50% of the pixels previously.

Oled uses less power than LCD only where black is displayed.
Same amount pf power for blue, green, red and other.
2x more power for white.
Reason DM is able to reach more than 1000 nits , using image with surface 99% black + 1% white, oled pushes even more brightness when less white on screen.
You measure higher brihtness when screen has image 99% black + 1% white than 50% black + 50% white for example.
Oled TVs do not have 1000, 1200 or 1500 nits.
LED and MicroLED have much more, because they are not gonna be damaged.
This is all to impress costumers. Like saying phone has 4 cameras, despite being those useless macro 2MP and depth 5MP.
Bias youtubers have had phone for couple weeks.
Jake420, 14 Jan 2021Right, the argument is so dumb when people say Samsung made the display, that's like sayi... moreSony just makes a part of camera system, where as Samsung makes and sell whole display system. The thing is that by the time next iPhone is launched with Samsung display it will obviously outperform S21 because new displays will be 6-7 months in development over S21 displays. If you want to compare displays, compare Galaxy Note Vs iPhone as they launch within same time frame and you will find that Note will always be on top.

It does not restrict part of sensor used. It is not like FF in Apsc mode."
That's total nonsense! You don't seem to know what digital zoom is. Digital zoom is nothing else than a crop of the sensor. Digital zoom only upscales when the resolution is too low. As I said a 3x crop of a 108 megapixel sensor does have 12 megapixels. Samsung only needs to upscale if they use a 3x crop of the 12 megapixel mode.
"Using 3x zoom from the 108MP is gonna give worse result than 12MP from same camera at shorter distance between phone and subject."
That's mainly the case due to the Nona Bayer array, which leads to less detail. For low-light conditions the reason is that the same lens is used, so a crop doesn't capture more light from a distant object whereas a periscope camera does capture more light from a distant object. In perfect light conditions another factor is the sharpness of the lens, but this won't be relevant here as the resolution is already reduced so much by the Nona Bayer array.
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021No xiaomi has IP rating. Also, high brightness is bad for oled. Why do ppl have fetish fo... moreBecause higher brightness is better for HDR contents and outdoor usability. Burn in wouldn't be a huge issue under normal circumstances as the panel don't really have to maintain peak brightness for extended period of time, and the display technologies for OLED itself are also evolving (Less power consumption, less heat etc).
Will stick with Note 8 for the time being and then move to Note 20 in a year or so. There is just no point whatsoever in paying out for the latest model. The incremental increases are so small now that there's nothing there to tempt me. The phone companies want to know why sales are down? There's an answer for them.
