Only custom ROMs will save Xiaomi. Xiaomi will only be selling hardware going forward. They should now make their bootloader unlocking less tidious like oneplus, cut the waiting bs & account liking which give errors deliberately to keep you from unlocking your own phone so that they sell your data to the CCP 😂

Since AT&T developed mobile digital telecom technology the innovation impulse in the US went to zero.
Other countries saw the opportunities and started their own innovation programs.
But now the US is way behind in all telecom segments, is somebody else fault.
How freaking dumb, naive, and lazy they must be.
Oh and about CCP getting information via their backdoors....... Hmmm first Google gets that already too, and do they think that we forgot about the NSA backdoor in Cisco routers and access points

As big as xiami become, this come not as a surprise. wait until oneplus get that big the same fate awaits them. Still I just hope they keep getting google, because that's all I care. getting my mi 11 next week.

I'm surprised it took this long for the banhammer to hit Xiaomi.
I guess we won't know just what this means for their Snapdragons and Google Services for a while, especially with Biden coming in?
I pointedly avoided Chinese firms when purchasing in late 2019 (replacing an Honor 9 that in turn replaced a OnePlus 3, so I'd been open to them before) because I didn't want to risk my phone being semi-bricked by geopolitics, especially as I'm in the UK and my government felt at least capable of dropping its own response. (And indeed has since U-turned at considerable expense on Huawei 5G infrastructure.) I'm relieved, because I'd probably have a Poco if it wasn't for that (and, admittedly, a Black Friday A70 deal that was a great fit for me, even if I haven't had as much as I'd like out of the network bundling pay-TV sports 😂).

I do agree however that the CCP bans at least Apple, until the other vendors are unbanned. If they want, then can bar Huawei towers, but that's something that's enforceable at the local level (force providers) instead of blanket ban.
I would not be surprised if Apple had something to do with this. I doubt it, but it wouldn't surprise me.

USA is doing some incredible shit. They can not catch up with technologies and are making up fake reasons to blame others and to stop them from being better.
For example at school if you are having poor grades to tell your parents that the kids with nice grades are using drugs and this way to clear your ego in an idiotic way. This is the logic used by US administration. Why should they invent and innovate when they could just blame others and stop businesses because it is easier.
