The HM2 on Mi 10i is a great sensor. It gave such sharp & detailed 108mp images.
S21 Ultra with its successor HM3 will give even better 108mp images when used in accordance with the Flagship ISP.

Ad.it.yeah, 15 Jan 2021In 12mp mode they are 2.4um which is larger than the iPhone's 1.7umThe iPhone 1/1.7" is garbage quality compared to S20 FE and Xperia 5 II with similar sensor size.
S20 FE and Xperia 5 II use IMX 555 which is much superior to IMX 603 inside the iPhone 12 pro Max.
IPhone doing Pixel type tricks with hdr on auto mode to give usable enough picture quality. In reality the sensor is weaker compared to other flagships.
IPhone photo quality is only a minor improvement over the 12 & 12 pro or the 11 pro Max for that matter.

It sacrifices detail for larger effective pixel pitch size. Great for low light conditions, but don't expect crisp true-to-life natural detail.

So basically, it just adds 12-bit colour depth and better laser autofocus system. I wonder if it would make a better photo quality than last year's S20 Ultra.

A good sensor should have fewer large pixels. Many pixels mean many pixel gaps which means light loss and ultimately bad image quality. Some of the best current DSLR or mirrorless full-frame cameras have 20MP sensors. Samsung is just fooling its customers!
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021What we need is the ability to take fast shots as animals and children don't stay still!First, phone needs to have Burst mode with AF.
Second, sensor with fast readout.
Phone lacks both ..
I hate Nonacell on my N20U. They really should have made it a giant 12MP sensor because the fusion of pixels causes a massive loss of image quality (details and colours).
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021What we need is the ability to take fast shots as animals and children don't stay still!Loool..is it possible that you never heard of burst shot? Or, even better, single take?
What works yesterday might not work today
I honestly believe large megapixel are here to stay and isn't as gimmicky as people might think
What we need is the ability to take fast shots as animals and children don't stay still!
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021You said company, not division.Xperia division is still separate from the whole Sony company, so it is fine to say that it is still a separate branding from the main one. It's just that they are now working in collaboration together.

The OP is merely just pointing out what is true. Samsung literally just made a similar thing that Sony has already created in the past.
That's called "informing", or maybe a reminder to say in other language.
For you, it really sounded like hating on Samsung, but objectively speaking, it is just the general fact that probably not everyone will know, and definitely not everyone will accept, just like you sounding like you don't believe it either.
