Duck of death, 15 Jan 2021Food for thought: Maybe we just don't like Sony, because it's Sony. If there is a ne... moreWhat? Sony is spying on their users? What in the f***in' world???
Bruh, I have seen Apple and Samsung doing more user's private data collection than Sony ever since. Heck, I haven't even heard Sony being reported to doing such acts.
If there's anything that a Sony phone is collecting private data, it's most probably Google itself, which Sony has no control of.
Yes, Sony did a great job of being the villain for offering true glimpses to the future with their creative products. Everyone basically wants Samsung and Apple to always come on top, so Sony's repeated acts of overtaking them in progression is making people go nuts against them.
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021Sony is a small company? I'm shooked.Yes they are. Sony isn't even top 10 in terms of smartphone sales
Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021Couldn't agree more. And it's not about agreeing or not, it's a FACT that right... more40-50 is the best right now. But 108 is definitely better than 12mp. Just like you said look at sony and iphone they are way behind other flagships. They should ditch 12mp cameras if they want to compete.
Shanti Dope, 15 Jan 2021In mobile division, yes they are.You said company, not division.

"Bayer sensors have faster readout"
Another unfounded myth.
"it is known the full resolution gives no gain in details"
They do have gain in details and the difference is extremely obvious, what are you even on about? Why do you think Mate 40 Pro's main camera can resolve just as much details as iPhone 12 Pro Max's telephoto camera?

Sensor with DRAM inside, Quadbayer, ability to use 12bit.
Even at higher price, exmor sell much more than Isocell.
Not just for phones, but cars, medical, security etc ...
AnonD-923722, 15 Jan 2021Then can you explain the more noisy footage of the samsung note 20 ultra compared to the Iphon... moreIn this comparison, which phone has brighter footage?
Higher ISO also means faster shutter.
If you slow down shutter for videos at night, huge chance of blurred video. AF is always weak at lower light no matter the type and device (even applies to real cameras).
Video with higher ISO avoids blur, make scene brighter at expense of texture.
There will always be tradeoffs when you have small sensors used by phones.
always lots of words, nothing meaningful in reality , i've seen a a low light photo already and iphone with its smaller sensor captures a slightly better picture without night mode. Ultrawide, same small sensor with big aperture .
I have a feeling p50 pro will destroy it once again.
AnonD-923722, 15 Jan 2021It does not matter. Since apple and Google proved it. In daylight they have less shutter lag a... moreIf you want zero motion blur, use single frame + hdr off.
I have seen a test (website is from China, HK or Taiwan), girl was walking off to the camera.
Person used burst mode of iphone. All photos had her face blurred.
Of course, there is also lack of AF for burst.

As article remember, the multiframe tech is what cant handle motion, because each frame is different, they do not overlap each other. Those phones with RGB + monochrome turn off HDR when dual cam is working.
Bayer sensors have faster readout.
Since P20 Pro, it is known the full resolution gives no gain in details.
Photos are worse, even downsized to smaller resolution.
Kek, 15 Jan 2021instead of making useless 108MP sensors, Samsung should go back to those 12-20 MP ones. That... moreCouldn't agree more. And it's not about agreeing or not, it's a FACT that right now, 12-20MP, even some 40 and 50MP, are WAY better than 108. They perform and give you way better images than 108MP ones... Just look at iphone and the Sony's experia you said. Samsung is pure gimmick and bad software
1. Why is this sensor still limited to just 240 fps @ 1080p?
2. Its nona bayer which could bring good improvements in low light but won't this mean very bad detail levels? Won't it be just like an oversized 12MP sensor?
How will it take good 8k video then, noiselessly?
3. What kind of file sizes are we talking about? 64 times more info than current RAW doesn't sound too space friendly?
AnonD-923722, 15 Jan 2021Which means the Iphone 12 Pro Max 12 Mp lets more light in than the 12 MP binned Note 20 ultra... moreI think they should offer a proper 12 MP resolution camera with a large sensor.
notafanboy, 15 Jan 2021108MP is a stoopid gimmick. It has superior foliage representation than the iPhone 12 pro max 😏
U know what I mean.
