ericwang, 16 Jan 2021Do US ever follow the rule setting by WTO in recent trade war? NoTheir people did vote the traitor out of office. Are you telling the internet that you think Xi should go? Good for you! I wouldn't mind that.

Anonymous, 16 Jan 2021No, nothing happened to Facebook and they're still collecting and selling user data. I do... moreYou don't see what Xiaomi and Huawei planting malware everywhere has to do with a discussion about news that Xiaomi is banned for planting malware everywhere?

This is why I think the WTO should consider a global trade ban with China. Which includes the Internet.

Xiaomi never sell samrtphone in United States. They only sell AIOT equipment in US.
Maybe someone think oneday the sweeper robot made by Xiaomi will become a Robot James Bond, steal the classified docunment in While House?
National Security? It is really a fun reason.
Remember,Android is an open source system,if smartphone company set backdoor,it is easy to find.

I think Trump just go crazy after losing election.
In his mind he think every Chinese company, even those who make childern's toy or toliet paper are stealing 'US national security secret'

nanagdad, 16 Jan 2021Atleast one can delete Facebook app. Try deleting Xiaomi security app bloat without root. F#kFacebook has hidden apps which are not easily removable in most modern phones, like com.facebook.system and com.facebook.appmanager.

Both collect data, in fact NSA collects data from users that have no connection, but from what I can collect, USA is trying to blame Mi for making malicious use of the data, or using their dominance for something inferior... which USA considers as something it can say without a proof.
So, I'm in DISagreement with what Trump did, given so little info they provided.

Blame & claim is now democracy, no matter who does it.

If this will hold with Biden to, I'm sure Huawei and Xiaomi and I think to, in near future, rest of the Chinese mobile brands stay together and support Huawei new OS.
Then the world will have a really strong OS vs Android and Apple 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😃

No country on the globe can trust America at all, nothing new.

If America continues this kind of politics they can start WW3 in the future.

...
Kinda predicted that it would happen.

What's next?
Oneplus? OPPO? Vivo? Or Samsung?

Well, as long we can still use Google services on xiaomi phone and it is at good price, we should be satisfied.

If not, what can the consumers do...
Stop buying Apple?

It's been proven for years Xiaomi has ties to Huawei and the CCP. Xiaomi has funding from the military and they also stole designs from from Segway before ending up buying it a few years later. I don't even know why people argue that lol.

Look for Kingsoft, Alibaba, Tencent, Semiconductor, they all have ties and the us, by sabotaging their expansion, are actually preventing them of trying to make it a monopoly as Tencent buys stakes and companies from many game studios and software development studios outside of China. Look at the major holders of Riot games, Bluehole studio, it's deeper than most think lol.

Xiaomi actually tries to expand beyond cellphones (anything walmart sells exept think a Walmart that sells globally and low or cost price) and ex-employees of Google, twitter, Facebook are or have worked for or with them directly or indirectly.
Some employees who used to work from Google, of Chinese Origins work for twitter in gigh places as well.
