Carol, 17 Jan 2021Yeah, what is even worse is that this people who think they understand encryption fail to unde... moreAnother aspect of Telegram's security - and another reason it is so hard to intercept messages - is that I was told that it breaks-up your messages and uses servers in different countries to process different parts of them - which are also encrypted.
For example, if I type to you a message, it will be broken in (at least) 2 parts. Part one will be sent though their server in Russia for example, and part 2 via the server in the Ukraine.
Now if any country wants to open that message, they will need both parts of it. Good luck having that kind of a relationship with both these governments, which are in conflict, and to that extent.
Effectively, they are exploiting political friction as another layer of security.
Pretty smart if you think about it.

IpsDisplay, 16 Jan 2021I was wrongNo big deal. Signal is much better platform than Twitter in terms of privacy and censorship. It is open source (both app and server code), end-to-end encrypted (chats, metadata and even stickers) i.e no scope of censorship, contacts are hashed, has undergone third-party audits and is maintained by a non-profit organization. The only downside is that it currently requires a phone number for connecting with people which is going to change in the future.

We support two layers of sec... moreYeah, what is even worse is that this people who think they understand encryption fail to understand that whatsapps client to client "encyption is practically non-existent. A simple clear example would be the RECOVERY of the chats. Or better said recovery of all data when changing devices. A true end to end (client to client) encyption will be just imposible to do that, oh. bummer. Well telegram actually uses end to end encryption when needed and client server encyption when not urgent. Also, as far as i have studied, they store their private keys away from their workers, like this it is practically imposible to read data on the servers without knowing the client pass. Also it is hard for guvernments to spy as their are more then one entity that store randomly telegram keys. Their solution is actually pretty nit keeping out even the most courious employe.
