dude111, 19 Jan 2021I believe both 865 and 865+ can be paired with a BT 5.2 chip as they aren't integrated in... moreThe 805 atleast had a newer gpu, this is just the old one. This is more like the 820, 821 ab and 821 ac models. 865+ was already inefficient, who knows if they actually got it right with 870 and its 3.2ghz.

AnonD-973296, 19 Jan 2021this is a rebranded 865+ with a little more on top of it... that is chinese tech company traditionAlthough it's a Chinese company tradition there's nothing wrong with rebranding... it helps differentiate between SoCs when looking back.
Besides this must be the first time that qualcomm has had such a breakthrough in is chipset performance by optimizing the OPCs.
Lets just say kudos to Qualcomm.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2021Current gen not smooth enough? The Qualcom "exynos" 888 chip can cook your egg after heavy game play. Don't trust Samsung 5nm manufucting process which exynos current gen is using together with this 888 chip. 870 is a better upgrade to the previous 865 of last year.

Corrected. This is the actual 875 chip for Snapdragon for 2021. The 888 is questionable looks more like a rebranded Exynos by Qualcom considering it uses Samsung manufucting process meaning it will throttle just like an Exynos. Hopefully oneplus 9 comes with this 870 chip & yeah with a little curved on the screen I like the premium look & it makes gesture navigation feel smooth.

Hmmm, for those arguing about frame rates, all I can say is that it is only supported by a very limited number of games. It is nice to have (I am using the ROG2), and I leave it on most of the time. Gimmick or not is up to different poeple. I am a tech geek, so I can see the difference in the screen refresh rate. My wife who doesn't give a dxmn about such things cannot notice anything at all.

But yeah, personally I prefer gaming phones especially the ROG. The cooling system is good, I am given the flexibility to prevent the phone from throttling , I have extra shoulders "buttons". I willingly gave up IP rating and size to have a phone I greatly appreciate.

This is not to say other flagships are not good. Everyone has their own important features and just buy what you think is good.

danwat1234, 19 Jan 2021I'd rather stick with a 888 with 5 nanometer power efficiency and integrated modem. 870 u... moreum we're looking at the difference between TSMC and Samsungs process. the "shrink" for Samsung isn't really much of a claim and it's not that efficient at all compared to TSMCs 7nm EUV much less TSMC 5nm. and now since we're in 2021 i'm going to say this SD870 is built more refined and better binned than the 865+ so that's likely where some of the extra clock speed comes in.

It's not just an automatic 60/120Hz switch, but a granular transition between 10-120Hz. You gotta give Samsung a credit for that as achieving this while maintaining the great colour accuracy is actually hella difficult.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 19 Jan 2021High refresh rates are for gamers mainly. Although they have other benefits. But for gamers. I... moreThe high framerate doesn't apply to most games atm. But even then the effect is most noticeable when scrolling on a page.

Do like 90+ frame rate displays and would rather see the resolution drop since from standard operation distances wQHD is excessive. Give me the performance and endurance benefits of wFHD thanks!
