VLC (Videolan) is an efficient, well featured tool constantly developed for 20 years or more that handles any A/V format you throw at it, converts, streams..

Everyone knows about it, at least in Europe. It is freeware, it does the job and it does so incredibly well. It can be complex if you exploit it to the full, but the basic interface is intuitive plug and play.

does anyone else have issues when using vlc on a windows laptop ? for example, after i'm done watching an episode and go to play the next one it takes almost minute to play, and sometimes it crashes.
even after formating the laptop it'll go back to the same issue in couple of weeks
ps: i'm still using a mechanical hard drive (can't find a decently priced 1tb 2.5" ssd in my country).
