That's where mediatek could come in with a better gpu on atleast their top of the line 1200. Hopefully you understand it now.

In many countries, mmwave will start coming in 4 or 5 years : mmwave is useless there, 5g carrier aggregation is more important. Not a single Snapdragon has hardware AV1 decoder.
HDR video recording is available only on 888.
It's not impossible to update Mediatek's devices. Even on entry level, Mediatek updates Kernel : mt6737 was released with Android 6.0, some devices run Android 10...but true, OEM often forget to update. Except Nokia (Nokia 3 was updates from Android 7.0 to Android 9.0 - 2 and a half years on entry level!)
True, devs often prefer Snapdragon but Indians do an awesome job on Redmi Note 8 Pro...it simply need a few more best sellers with Mediatek's.
2- I won't be that confident with X1 cores...battery life and thermal seems to be horrible on Snapdragon 888 (on both Mi11 and iQoo 7

Wow, these chips would be excellent in midrange flagships/high-end midrangers!
I think that mediatek should continue what it's doing best, and that's providing great performance at really low prices.

MediaTek chipset means there will be GPS problems.
If you recall, they have had GPS issues since the MT6589 days (I had a Jiayu phone). In fact, many blogs used to recommend MediaTek MobileUncle Tools to download EPO files and fix the GPS issues.
But the bad news is that the EPO file servers are not online anymore, so there's no way you can fix MediaTek GPS issues anymore.
Enjoy a GPS free mobile experience, or use a SnapDragon chip based phone. Too many apps need GPS these days (e.g. Food ordering apps).

SD865 and 865+ have come down in prices now as SD888 takes over as Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC. Even with the higher pricing, they are still justified by how well the processor is well-loved by software developers. In fact, if one company would simply want to, they can even support a SD765G-powered mid ranger with OS upgrades of up to 3 years due to Qualcomm's generosity to distribute the proper drivers for their SoCs. Meanwhile, it's literally impossible to do this even for MediaTek's flagship SoCs in their whole lineup.
2. Having no prime core is actually worse for long-term performance. Not only does it have weak short burst of peak power, but having high performance cores clocked at quite high speeds is going to be worse for thermals (I consider the X1 as the super high performance core to put the high performance core into context).
Of course the Dimensity 1100 will beat the SD865 and SD855+, but it's not absolutely bells and whistles only.
There's definitely a clear reason why we don't see any mainstream flagship phone being powered by MediaTek's flagship processors.

Peugeot should do a competitor for Ferrari Stradale? Or Hammer? Or Roll's Royce? Nope. There are segments in wich you can do very good. The sales of high end smartphones are so big that is worth it to invest time, energy and money to compete?

Question: I googled it and got nothing out of it, but the part where they say the number of the Mali GPU cores, I usually see it as MP, but the ones from MediaTek I noticed that the have MC. Like the G77 I saw it both with MP11 and MC9 for example. So what's the difference? The way they work?

The Dimensity 1200 chipset can really give Snapdragon 865 or 865+ even the recently-launched 870 a run for their money. Looking at the Dimensity 1100 specs, I'm looking more at it as a Dimensity 1000+ successor and also a Snapdragon 845 alternative mainly because of its 4 big and 4 small cores architecture and no prime core at all. I'd be surprised if the 1100 can even beat both Snapdragon 855 and 855+.

Bravo, MTK! The big question right now is about throttling and sustained performance in these new chips.
As a side note, I wonder why ARM doesn’t introduce any new power efficient cores.
