Kenda, 23 Jan 2021Lol, SMIC doesn't make its own fab machines..they're dependent on ASML, like everyon... moreThey “were” dependant, now they are making their own Fabbing machines, but are late, but they are doing it none the less.
7nm is planned for 2023 and 5nm palnned for 2025,atleast 5 years late but not bad when everyone thought China was 2 decades behind in semi conductor tech.
What's great is The next evolution of Silicon conductor, China is already superior in light based Quantum computer and Graphene based conductors.
They failed big on silicon, glad they are investing on own tech now.

But all these companies still dependent on AMSL which uses US technologies, they should make their own fan machinese like SMIC
Wow, its quite a coincidence that Xiaomi have been ban last week in making business with the US, now Samsung is going to invest 10 billion , in all places ,Texas. Well, Business and politics really go well together, like honey and tea.
Swarley1, 23 Jan 2021What a short sighted comment… childish at best.. Have you seen the touchscreen issues on the S20 FE? Multiple sites especially Android Authority have reported this and still not fixed today.
Just Google it and lots of results will show up. I bought the 5G 128GB (Cloud white) version on preorder and now still being investigated if this malfunction persists. Dissapointed with my purchase.
zodiacfml, 23 Jan 2021wtf? TSMC is already 3nm risk production. 3nm chips for Apple devices next year. Still long way to go.. Samsung could do it too
I see customers like Nvidia pushing for this pretty hard, though it wil depend if the new US gov will continue the trade war or return to previous tariffs.
This would be huge for Samsung and AMD's collaboration in mobile market
AnonD-940827, 23 Jan 2021Samsung should fix the ghost touch screens, before anything else! What a short sighted comment… childish at best..
