It is even more useless than stuff like curved screen.
I don't care how "pro" that thing is
This ridiculous pricing and the one year delay only adds insult to the injury
There's no way this thing is even remotely worth 2500 bucks.
Some features were certainly added and make it more versatile
regarding a professional usage, but sony can't seriously ask twice as much.
People around here cannot comprehend the fact that the " Pro" name is actually used and it should be used only for pros!
So... Here...Sony slaps everyone else naming their products wrong when only masses will use it!!
Hahaha lol at the comms.
Go home if your brain is dead. Go get handcuffed by apple!
Anonymous, 26 Jan 2021Calibration is similar to those Sony oled monitors that cost over $30.000 It's not. You can come close with some fiddling but right out of the box its similar to Bravia A OLED series calibration.

Sony have been left in the dirty by all the major OEMs when it comes to... moreYou are using a touchscreen you need to look at it anyway, muscle memory is not something you can rely on in this case. Why do you need any kind of haptics to acknowledge that you tapped the screen which you are already looking at? Unless you need accessibility option of course.

This comment section seems full of people who don't know what they are talking about and are just here to bash at the $2500 price tag. I fully agree with MrMobile here, this device like the Apple Pro Display XDR, Pro Stand, Razer laptops, Quadro RTX graphic cards etc is for professional individuals to use in a given scenario. The reason it is limited to US is because it has limited supply (this is not a mainstream device) and Sony don't expect to sell this to YOU if you are complaining about the pricetag. They expect to sell this to people who want a small package that works out cheaper than buying other professional equipment that does the same thing for well over $4K and that is 4G, not 5G and with a 1080p monitor not 4K.
I actually like the fact that Sony are innovating and headed in a direction which will get more press for Sony, promote their products where it matters (to broadcasters) and make some of the R&D back, which can be reinvested into consumer goods such as the regular Xperia lineup. You have to remember, Sony mostly sells products to a niche. How many people do you expect to buy $25K+ professional grade 1080p monitors/ displays made for movie makers, $40K on a digital cinema-line camera (venice), $5K+ for audio recording devices etc?
If this was a consumer phone, then it would be alarming, but this is just how businesses work. Why do you think TV's suddenly go super-expensive above 100" compared to 65"? It's all about who you are selling the product to and if they are willing to buy it for the situation they want it for.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2021I wonder if the "Pro" version will still be using the same haptics from 2014?Making your phone vibrate while you type or touch the screen = waste of power
Even more stupid idea than the vibration of PS control.
As an IT professional I'm actually more concerned that Sony advertises a camera that can connect to FTP. In 2021. Let that sink in.
I wonder if the "Pro" version will still be using the same haptics from 2014?
Sad....
Before you complain, remember this phone isn't made for the mainstream. The clear target here are rich.

I mean you can get really cheap monitors with poorly calibrated displays to industry standard which can cost you thousands of dollars.
I mean I'm not saying Xperia Pro scores 100/100 in display accuracy or colour accurate. I leave that to industry standard Studio monitors. Xperia Pro is aimed only at professionals who film/photographs while moving with added benefit to broadcast live streaming equally in all directions directly to studio or directly to audience.
I mean a Sony calibrated 4K display should be better than a typical low end mini external display monitor.
