Based on the chatter on zhihu, the chinese gamers are doubtful. I think they will stick to the international server for now. The national one looks pathetic.
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2021LOL, I thought everyone there just torrents everything. I sure do.actually, everyone there just use the copy-cat looked alike locals for everything that's banned, from software like google, browser, messenger to every single things like food, soaps, and even glassware
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2021Too bad CPC must ban GamblingI am happy they ban gambling in China.
Chinese gamblers will holiday in my country with their cash. I love it.
This was before the pandemic though.

Gambling is a big issue in Chinese culture.
Casinos in my country would be bankrupt without Chinese gamblers.
Thank you Chinese people.

What's this supposed to mean.
It was always available in China
Anonymous, 09 Feb 2021cheaters and hackers here they come lolsChill, it's China only. Hope they all go over there for a cleaner global client but I am not getting my hopes up.
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2021And tomorrow the service will get blocked by the whim of the CCP over something trivial. HaIt won't. It is Steam who has to adhere to CHN govt regulations and censorship.
AnonD-920712, 10 Feb 2021so chinese gamers have played dota 2 without steam client all this timeOr maybe they used vpn.
so chinese gamers have played dota 2 without steam client all this time
Probably the number of games will stay quite low for some time because all the games should adhere to the chinese gov censorship so most western single player games are out and mostly only non-political competitive multi-player games will be present.
i have to say this, chinese are the most disciplined youths i ever seen. they are the less spoiled and they are great patriots.
damn theyre so desperate for a little more RMB these days
I don't understand why they're focusing on China instead of India. Focusing on Indian market/players, bringing Hindi/Begali/Marathi languages to Steam would bring them better and easier earnings than "preparing" Steam for CCP.
Steam has always been in China through the International client. This is a region specific client that no one will probably use until the international client gets shut down. At DOTA will still be available.
Steam has done many good things and gone against the mainstream, but this is an unforgivable act. Sincerely disappointed.
