The FDA is generally more stringent as to the accuracy of medical devices, so it's tougher to get approval.

ECG/EKG function is still not available in the Philippines. It was advertised here to include that function.

In the US, the law states devices used to measure blood pressure fall under FDA rules to ensure they aren't false or misleading. The EKG feature is the same, which is why it wasn't available at launch. Blood pressure got pushed back because the FDA had more pressing concerns in 2020.

The process described by Oggyman sound complex and time consuming but surely Samsung knew this before hand. This, however, did not deter them from advertising and selling the Watch 3 saying that it had EKG and Blood Pressure monitoring. Almost a year later and still no BP monitoring in the US with the exception of 3rd party apps which do not meet the standards we have been promised. This is not what I expected from a company I have always respected.

A process that is expensive in time and effort to compile then it will take many months to get approval in the first country. Approvals in subsequent ASEAN countries is no less expensive but should be quicker.

india, 23 Feb 2021not for india as of now? Submissions into India are functionally a CSDT from ASEAN countries with some additional documentation. Usually takes over 8 months.
It's a very expensive and time consuming process.

Wouldn't Samsung be abl... moreThe ECG and Blood Pressure monitoring are classed as medical devices by Samsung, so have to be given approval by the appropriate government bodies before it can be released for use. The problem in the UK and many other countries is that large online Samsung distributers have been getting lower cost, other region, units and selling them into the UK, or relevant home country, You would never know untill you tried to download these software updates.
Lack of control by SSamsung,I'm aafraid,has lead to these problems.

The advertising around bp did no mention that you had to buy a Samsung phone for it to work. Should I pack it in and wait or join the Class?

MyBP Lab was working fine until about a week ago. Now half the time it says to retry. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G phone and an Active 2 Samsung watch. The ECG works just fine.
