It's probably rocking the Snapdragon 775, as that one was purported to be as fast as the Snapdragon 855 in cpu benchmarks

I'd imagine the price is going to be in between the 4g and 5g Samsung galaxy S20 FE

I hope this is true!! It is a very potent chip, extremely battery freindly and, I would guess, quite cheap now.

Lets face it, the vast majority of users, including those playing games and using tools, will have much more than enough power with the SD855+ than they will ever need in the next decade, my OnePlus 6t with its SD845 have never failed me, and I am sure it would more than satisfy almost every users while still having room to spare, and lets not forget how much more powerful each generation is compared to the previous one.

The only negative thing about using the SD855+ wouldn't be its power, but rather the fact that we would miss out on features such as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and all the improvement that the SD865 did bring, so the 865 or 870 series midrange equivalent would be a better choice for that reason.
So for that reason, as YUKI93 said, lets hope it is only for the prototype and that the final phone will come with the current/latest gen midrange SoC rather than the 855+, it would be an improvement on all levels.

855+ is late 2019 and Not 2018. So it is just more than a year old. A good choice for an upper midrange phone in 2021.

Maybe this could be a prototype device before Samsung finalized the chipset. The A80 was powered by Snapdragon 730/730G, so it is rather unlikely for Samsung to jump into the 800 Series chipset. 750G or 765G would make more sense.

I'm fine with that because it's still a good SoC. Just price it correctly.

Anonymous, 04 Mar 2021Are you the guy obsessed with pop up cameras? No, I am the guy who want to be able to find a phone without a butchered display and which the front camera solution offer privacy.
I'd take a phone without front camera over a phone with a pop up camera.

It sounds logic that the costlier the base display, the much more the punch hole add to the cost.
I think the biggest cost drain might be pixel density.

LG Superfan, 04 Mar 2021Going by rumors A72 4G is expected to be priced $450 for the base model, assuming A72 5G is pr... moreMan, you can buy SD865 from Xiaomi or Poco with as little as 400-450EUR.
With some luck, you can find some Realme models with SD855+ with 300-350EUR. And I am not talking second hand ones.
Of course, they are not Samsung, but still, saying that 600EUR is a good deal for a SD855+ phone just because is Samsung and you (probably) will get 3 years of updates is wrong.
Besides, I have serious doubts that people looking into this A82, will change their phone next time somewhere in 2024-2025. So, why put software updates as a plus then? Not to mention, that software updates in the majority of times have more bugs in older models (no matter the brand).
