Anonymous, 21 Sep 2012It can be argued they revolutionised the smartphone market.
The release of the first iPhone... moreI beg to differ. The 1st iphone was nothing.
i had my p910 phone back then. That phone was obsolete before news of the iphone actually surfaced, just to feel how old that phone was. That phone's symbian already has the widgets on homescreen blah blah blah functions. So no, apple did not impact symbian to go the touchscreen route. Symbian was touchscreen before apple probably even started designing the iphone.
Windows went for a redesign not because of apple. It needed a redesign even without apple.
As for BB and android... Look at how much functions iOS has blatantly ripped off BB and android. Need we say more?
Oh well... If you prefer to think Apple revolutionize the phone and world, so be it. Was windows 7 and 8 developed because of mac?
Poor Apple, You remove Google Map on iOS6 that is why your Apple Map is already facing criticism from user's globally based on what I red on Yahoo.com.
Hahaha you spend so much time in suing other companies, so you have less time to test your own product.
Let me hear from the icrap fanboys hahaha.

You should have clearly seen that he/she had written $13m in brackets with a question mark - indicating that he/she was also unsure. And the figures was not the point of the comment.
Read comments clearly before responding in a rude or sarcastic manner #justsaying
Spikey, 21 Sep 2012There is so much of hatered in the forum. People are spitting venom at each other. we are spitting venom only at Apple, since they have really become patent trolls. They claim they have rights on trivial things, like the slide to unlock, things that were seen in research long before the iphone came out, like the pinch to zoom, yet they do the same cut-and-paste work when they need it! Take, for esample, the notification bar and the "brand-new" panorama shooting mode that were taken directly from Android.
They sued Samsung because the icon were too similar, yet their new Maps application looks like Google Maps in every aspect, even the shape of the icons, balloons etc.
We've had enough of Apple, really.

apple, 20 Sep 2012I wonder, what real technologies has apple ever brought to the table, ie real scientific chemi... moreIt can be argued they revolutionised the smartphone market.
The release of the first iPhone caused windows to withdraw from the market whilst they completely rebuilt their os. Caused android to change the look of their os from the blackberryesque monstrosity they were developing. Caused Symbian to change direction to go down the touchscreen route with simple widgets on the home screens. And palm to rebuild their os.
All because pre iPhone, manufacturers didn't care that smartphones were complex beasts that were counterintuitive to use.
I agree. The rest of the market has caught up and surpassed apple. And I don't agree with them suing the competition rather than trying to beat them with better products. It seems apple has rested on its laurels for too long now.
But without the iPhone we would still be in a world where people thought winmo 6.1 was the pinnacle of smartphones (perish the thought)..
I-say, 21 Sep 2012wether it was from sammy or crapple. it is ridiculous. When we buy any of their phones or products they are using our money to fight their legal battles. How rude! No wonder they are charging us an arm and a leg to buy their phones.
Spikey, 21 Sep 2012There is so much of hatered in the forum. People are spitting venom at each other. Agreed. Let's confine the venom to the phones, not each other!

If so then say to Apple to place order for their parts in United States semiconductor companies. There is no need to sell idevices outside US.
It is getting rediculous as time passes day by day. Don't these companies get tired of suing each other. In my opinion Patent office should also fix the licensing terms and fees, so that such disputes cant occur.
if a fruit store patented their fruits logo (apple, of course....) donkey years back, apple will be broke. then they had to change their product's name to iBroke.
I don't hate apple. I just think their products are over priced though the quality is good.
Getting a bit tired of this suing business. Can't Apple and Samsung shake hands and bury the cases. They could save a whole load of money if they flipping joined forces. Then they will be able to make the Iphone galaxy s4. How is one able to sue on grounds of a firmware which hasn't come out yet? Is that possible? The thing that it doesn't stop Americans buying Samsung phones and bringing it into the US and Koreans buying Iphones to bring it into Korea. Not too sure how banning those phones will be able to stop people at all.
