Now, we know the specs, which are really good, 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of internal storage is very good+ you can expand that memory. The display will be also among the best, or even the best. Finally, fast charging is available(that 65 Watt is no joke).
Now, with these specs, I wonder about the price. They will price it as Samsung the S21 Ultra? Or they will price it lower? Sony now jumps big this year. The 1 III will be miles better, but if they will not price it well, I wonder what will happen.

depending on what features Sony ends up adding, I might get the Xperia 5 II or wait for 5III
Sony phones isn`t good , I have xperia Z5 premium , not camera was good not display
Shanti Dope, 07 Apr 2021While it is true that LG is also a big company, their strategies at handling their mobile divi... morei dont think they can be a top tier phones, price wise at least...
it is either people buy the cheapest they can get with the performance they want... or the well advertised one despite being more expensive...
though shall not underestimate advertising...
and likewise i dont think sony is interested in being at the top in terms of sales, because that means they are going to cut corners... personally i dont want that to happen...
you see there are different types of consumers...
there are those who prioritise the cost, not knowing there are compromises here and there, as long as it doesnt ruin their usage of course...
some consumers based it on "feel" usually the reason of most advertisements... then afterwards they "reason out"... they go by feeling before logic...
others doesnt care much about price nor advertising, they just get what they want to get... some ads are for them, usually those informative ones, like how lg did with the lg wing... during the unveiling... they focused on use cases rather than repeatedly say "this is groundbreaking, this is what you need to be happy" like what apple and samsung do... usually...
then there are those difficult consumers who just complains a lot... wants a cheaper phone that can launch a thousand ships and a lot more features that he or she cannot even use (so complains again)
and of course you know what type of consumer most are commenting here in gsmarena...

GAMIRSFM, 07 Apr 2021Can't wait for it to be released in September which will cause people to forget about it ... moreThis only happens with smartphones announced at the first half of the year. The second tier flagship announced in the second half of the year always goes on sale in no more than after a month.
In this case, they're actually likely to be changing that by delaying the announcement instead to have it already on sale by as early as May. There's no need to hate, really. It was definitely a bad move, but they're doing something to fix their flaws now, and I believe that that deserves a lot of credit on their part.

If Apple had iphone 12 in India for $550, Xiaomi and Realme would be doomed there.

Anonymous, 07 Apr 2021LG electronics was also huge, too big to fail, we all know what happened to their mobile divis... moreWhile it is true that LG is also a big company, their strategies at handling their mobile division are different from Sony.
If anything, the Xperia department has actually started collaborating with other Sony divisions since 2019 in order to improve their smartphones, so I seriously doubt they'd quit soon, if they will at all.
LG, on the other hand, only has their TV division to work with for the most part, and I assume that their budget for R&D of smartphones is no longer enough to sustain them without huge profit losses, hence the decision to end the glorious line of smartphones.
Sony, on the other hand, has their audio, display, gaming, camera, and multimedia departments to help the Xperia brand get awesome features without spending too much money in the process. Even if they were to sell just 10 units per year, it wouldn't be a huge loss for Sony as a whole since they have the other divisions providing more than enough profit to regain their losses with their smartphones.
But with that being said, it's actually becoming better and better for the Xperia lineup ever since they started collaborating with the other divisions. If they continue improving on what they need to do, they can slowly but surely regain the recognition as a top-tier smartphone brand as well, and that will just make Sony the most successful in all fields (literally their Alpha/Venice cameras, audio products, TVs, camera sensors, multimedia contents, and PlayStation are all successful already).
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2021LG electronics was also huge, too big to fail, we all know what happened to their mobile divis... moreI'm listening this since 2014. Sony just bounced back with Xperia 1 lineup actually. LG on other hand is different. So your argument is stupid.
[deleted post]Wow hold up sony is expensive but Chinese phones are absolute dogshit, they have crappy software and oh yeah its chinese so they save your personal info and sell it to thiefs so they know who you are and can easily rob you
Anonymous, 07 Apr 2021Sony next to go after LG ? not many buy sony today.. they are so behind xiaomi and samsung....Sony actually made profit on the Xperia phones, unlike LG.

You... moreOf course Sony phones can compete: They do not have a notch, also a punch hole is absent from the display. The display is not curved, you can read from the edges. Sony has two front-facing speakers. A 3.5mm jack and microSD memory expansion are basic features not retained by other brands. Evolution is progress, and Sony is the only one not walking backwards. Even Asus has stopped offering one basic feature: microSD memory expansion. Furthermore, Sony does not produce in China, a country which has brought us the corona pandemic and is famous for human rights violations.

I'm watching closely xperia 3 appearance. Very interested in camera department particularly. I doubt it will have newest gen big sensor, which would be a shame really. But I hope images will not be overdone with HDR like Samsung does. Dedicated camera button is also useful.
