this is pretty devastating. I own the amazon kindle fire HD and am typing on it right now and it uses the TI Omap processor.I also previously used the Omap on my Galaxy Nexus and also loved it. Little lag and impressive performance.I wish them good luck in whatever they choose to do and will continue to support their products.
TheMan, 26 Sep 2012Really bad news! OMAP is good as Exynos unlike Qualcomm. Qualcomm s4 pro krait did better than s3 exynos
TI-OMAP was a very good platform. But as their main customer Nokia and RIM is not doing good, their business is also affected. I had worked on DV of OMAP 6. It is really a SAD news.
great. now i have to wait for either the tegra 4 or the next exynos to get a true a15 processor.
if you guys notice, the new Kindle Fires and Nooks are using TI OMAP 4470. I wonder what will happen to those.
the last Nexus was based on OMAP which means the next Nexus will be based on Qualcomm
too bad for TI they had great chips..
Sad...OMAP is very developer friendly that's why google used it in the Gnex.
