If people wanted it, they would provide it. Personally I would never buy these modules, I prefer buying a new devices every three to four years.

The reason it was deemed a failure is because manufacturers understood that they can't earn profits as a modular phone means it to easy to be repaired and their planned obsolescence strategy won't work. In fact, manufacturers weren't putting efforts into the project. Even if the Processor can't be swapped, most other parts could and if availability is no issue, then people would get their phones repaired instead of replaced. It failed because of lack of effort by manufacturers.
AnonD-1001048, 26 May 2021I would buy it if Sammy makes it easy to repair with maybe modular parts. I honestly don'... moreModular phones were attempted before and it was a horrible fail because you still can't change the processor which is one of the most important things in any phone. Also the distribution never managed because different parts were not available at most merchants, they were expensive and people rather bought a new phone than just a module.
Wow this better be good, they're taking an enormous risk by putting their first (and the world's first valid attempt) at an under-display camera in a flagship such as this.
Junt, 26 May 2021Meh, needs to be a bigger jump from fold2 for me to be interested ir it.Yep nothing special, Z Fold 2 is a better choice
Anonymous, 26 May 2021"under display camera, but only on the inside" Gotta save something for next year, ... moreYes. That ie also why the main cameras haven't been improved this year.
And no one with brains should buy these phones till they give us real flagship specs!
Sony xperia design at the rear haha
I would buy it if Sammy makes it easy to repair with maybe modular parts. I honestly don't like disposable phones or tablets anymore which are made in such a way that makes repairs difficult. Fed up with planned obsolescence strategies of greedy corporates. I would suggest everyone to consider easy repairability as a deciding factor when buying new phones, tablets and laptops.
Under display camera for the inside screen doesn't sound like a bad idea, at least there is flexibility for video calls when using the screen unfolded. As for the rear camera, even Sony can give better hardware. I really find that ironic since the Z Fold3 has exactly the same main camera sensor as the one in the 2020 and 2021 Xperia flagships.
I hope the selfie quality of the UDC is nice. The folding display also has a lot of problems lately
Meh, needs to be a bigger jump from fold2 for me to be interested ir it.
AnonD-762416, 26 May 2021The small sensors is a result of them prioritizing phone thickness over cameras.

I figure its gonna be lit :)

I'd at least argue that it's a better thing to focus on, on a foldable device.
2x optical zoom? why
Looks like they’re trying to make it cheaper and more accessible to the mainstream
