I can a better option with 400€ like Lenovo ideapad slim 3 with ryzen 3 4300U and 512GB SSD
Lots of environmental pollution by Samsung. With the same money one can get an iPad which is way faster, runs better and more apps and it can last for years.
Wereweeb, 23 Jun 2021I mean, it CAN run Windows 10, provided it's the ONLY thing you're running. I hav... moreAccording to notebookcheck this celeron has decent geekbench scores, 40 points higher single core than my i5 6200u and 300 less points in multicore. And its got faster ram too. This will be enough for every chromebook task. Only the emmc will hold it back.
"silently announced"
Anonymous, 23 Jun 2021celeron, chromebook, emmc 🤢Exactly... at the very least switch out that emmc to a lowest grade SSD could have somewhat added some appeal. OR this thing better not exceed $400 (highly doubtful) RRP because then people would be better off buying used Thinkpads. Heck even those goes for way cheaper.
rizki1, 23 Jun 2021this celeron is more than enough even for windows OS.I mean, it CAN run Windows 10, provided it's the ONLY thing you're running.
I have an old HP Stream here and it's worse to use and worse at multitasking than a slow $150 smartphone using a Cortex A73 based processor.
It only hasn't gone to the trash because I was tinkering with Linux on it - and the package updater of a lightweight Linux distro is enough to bring the dual-core Celeron to it's knees.
If Celeron CPU is already slow enough when running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, then it won't be any different than Chrome OS. And being a Chromebook laptop, it won't be cheap.
celeron, chromebook, emmc
🤢
Wereweeb, 22 Jun 2021"Celeron" is just Intel's branding for "Cheapest garbage available". ... moreThat's exactly what I was wondering... this relic of a CPU running Win10 would hardly leave any power for the user to do his things..
Anonymous, 22 Jun 2021Celeron is great for web browsing, watching movies, word, excel, power point...Yup. But just 1 task at a time, not all of those. Then in half a year after many software installs & windows updates, that cpu won't be strong enough to complete even 1 task without stuttering.
I won't suggest buying something with Celeron or Atom to anyone.
Samath N8 808 owner, 22 Jun 2021Is Celeron still being sold, I thought it was something during the Dual Core and Core 2 Duo da... morethis celeron is more than enough even for windows OS.
We don't need 10nm processor anymore
Same ting from Xiaomi and price would be not more than 100 or 150 but because of Samsung prce will starts at 500 or more.
Celeron? Time to OC that one xD
Samath N8 808 owner, 22 Jun 2021Is Celeron still being sold, I thought it was something during the Dual Core and Core 2 Duo da... more"Celeron" is just Intel's branding for "Cheapest garbage available". These specific ones are recycled Atom cores, but there are also desktop dual-cores (without hyperthreading) using proper big cores.
And yeah, a notebook with a dual-core Atom SoC is just a form of psychological torture inflicted upon us by Intel, especially these older 14nm Atom cores. I wouldn't wish them upon my worst enemy. It's simply not enough to run a full operating system, even one that's not as bloated with garbage, tracking and spying as Windows 10 is.
kek, 22 Jun 2021Celeron is Intel's oldest line, just behind Pentium. It's utter trash tbh, and Intel... moreCeleron is great for web browsing, watching movies, word, excel, power point...
Chromebooks aren't bad. But I think if they were a little expensive everyone will go for Windows.
Anonymous, 22 Jun 2021Anything over 11.6” is big.Nope 12 inch macbook user, and it feels snug
