m2user, 07 Sep 2021is g88 is an upgrade when compared to g85/80? i don't think so. There aren't many changes.Technically, it is an upgrade. It is a minor one though, no doubt about that but G88 more or less, offers some improvements over G80 which it succeeded. Now if I rephrase your question as whether G88 is a *Major* upgrade over G80/85, I will say no. It is pretty much a passable upgrade for anyone rocking a G80/85 powered device and looking to upgrade to this handset.

Different users have different priorities and that's fine. Even I am not satisfied with R10Prime as a device launched with that price tag. EMMC 5.1, okayish display, and that price for that simply don't sound good considering we had Redmi Note 10 at lesser price when launched with much better display and charging speeds. Still, I consider SoC an upgrade over R9Prime (and a good one over R9Power) as well as the optics(not my priority though). Those upgrades however don't justify the pricing, 100%.

Very few section of weirdos do that anyway it's nothing wrong, do whatever. But 70percentage of market is below 150$ there speed is last priority. Good reception sound battery endurance that's all that matters. In my meaning of downgraded is their marketing thinking gimmicks from Mi. Of course i belong that 70 percentage
What A nice Device.
I bought it about one week

You clearly said "downgraded chipset" and it is in no way a downgraded chipset compared to SD662 used in R9Power. That's what I mentioned. The users who prefer performance over everything else *DO* look for benchmarks scores as well as thermal and sustained performance as that's what they need the most. Not everyone will be clicking photos or shooting videos every next minute. Many of the users just use cameras to scan documents only where, camera performance certainly don't matter.

Higher Price of Redmi phones have brought down the level of competition and promoting higher volume of sale of other brands.
Can you put the price in usd
Infinix Hot 11s is worth the wait.
If it cost Rs 11999 , it would had been a decent buy. The extra 500 is making it difficult to decide

G88 is in no way, a downgraded chipset compared to SD662 in Redmi 9 Power. In fact, G80 in Redmi 9 (Prime) is also better than SD662 in terms of raw CPU performance.
