i knew it. some people from wccftech bashed me as I suggested that Apple might or should make a game console. Apple have everything, powerful SoC, the suppliers, and an App store. While the iphone is already a huge gaming market, they can reach more people with a Switch like and Switch price device.
Now it is AMD's turn, I suggested that AMD should make ARM based SoC for consoles, laptops. If executed well, they could supply Apple this part in the future as AMD has better graphics
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2021I believe a lot of stuff, except this.
But let's assume they would do this, their cust... moreActually Apple has a very good game catalogue, even more, they have some succesful gacha games like Genshin Impact (yeah, it sounds like a broken record and yeah, is the analogue of Breath of the Wild) or a new chapter of Dead Trigger that are pretty capable to use the controllers inside it.
I can see it plausible, however makes me wonder how they will sell it... at the price of 800 dollar? Or going on the iPhone SE path with just 250 dollars WiFi only and 400 4G version?
They see me pippin', they hatin'.
A15 with proper cooling would be great tho. Pretty much an ipad mini with joycons.
Razr 5G Fan, 12 Oct 2021HELL YEAH and I hate Apple's closed philosophies and iOS. The reason this has me interest... moreSnapdragon 888 can barely play GameCube?
Wtf are you saying, I play GameCube and Wii games frequently in 2x native resolution on a SD 855, only the racing games like Need for Speed Underground and ProStreet are harder to run and makes the phone overheat after 5 mins, so how a more powerful chipset like the Snapdragon 888 can't run them?
Even a throttled SD 888 should have the same level of performance as a non throttled SD 855.
In 2016, even a SD 821 could run the 30 FPS capped GameCube games...
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2021So what’s the iPad to you 🤡yeah right when you doing split screen in portrait mode it look like 2 coconut trees. Android does it right. Left and right in landscape, top and bottom in portrait.
Dethrone Switch? haha Cookie must be on new hybrid grass. A powerful out of this world graphic beast like Xbox, ps5 can't even make a dent. Zelda, Pokemon, Mario just name a few can survive a long while. Those games can be enjoyed by parents or kids. It's a household name. Look at Apple music, they're doing OK but not dominated. AppleTV meh even though it cost only $5. It probably cost $499.
Razr 5G Fan, 12 Oct 2021I would be curious how often Apple will upgrade their platform? Will it be every year? Because... moreDoubt they'll have generations. This sounds more like a dedicated gaming iPad that will likely just piggy back off of the software that services iOS. That being said if you look at the last console generation they too don't have one model but periodic hardware version updates as well.
I believe a lot of stuff, except this.
But let's assume they would do this, their custom made M1 would be excellent pick for this.
Anyhow I guess seeing a dancing unicorn on a rainbow does sound more realistic than this.
Wondering if this console is exclusively online or can be offline too.
Also, that is the ONLY way to fully exploit the chipset. At last something that can use at max the power.
Also, makes me wonder what variety it migth have. Will use the A15 chip or the old A14 chip?
And finally... it will be Wi Fi only or can be 5G too?
Jobs hated videogames, thought were a distractions from the world. He would always think that making the (primary) world more enjoyable / a better place through our technology was a far more worthwhile task than escaping in worlds with no consequences and barely any rules.
That's what he would continuously launch new form factors in search of said world (AIO in '99, ipod in '01, itunes store in '04, iphone in '07, first Ultrabook what he called an air in '08, ipad in '10)
11 years, 6 different product categories w distinct staying power (all Apple desktops are AIOs now, all personal devices have an "ipod" embedded, all music is bought digitally nowadays, all phones are iphones basically, all laptops are Ultrabooks/air these days, all tablets are ipad like).
10 year since his death basically all we use are the ideas he pushed many of which would prolly not exist without him or arrive much later given where the industry was going at the time.
Then we get to modern product. *No* new product / form factor apart from the Apple Watch which remains a niche item. Also suddenly: videogames, not only that but do it in a way that follow the market instead of creating it.
Modern Apple is basically everything Jobs fought to build the antithesis of. They literally are the kind of company he built a career so that to defeat (what IBM used to be). Same products being milked to death, no capacity to create new product lines that last, industry follower, gigantic , bureaucratic.
Maybe a bit fitting for the man who failed so hard in life in everything other than his craft. Eventually even his craft/creation betrayed him. Current Apple is the kind of thing Steve Jobs was trying to tear down.
Oh what 10 years do. I love it!
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2021So what’s the iPad to you 🤡Samsung A5 from 2016 got split screen but not apple iphone 13 pro max from 2021
