Anonymous, 25 Nov 2021So Kirin is technically still alive? Yeah. Yeah, I think so. The trick is for Huawei to stay alive until SMIC catches up with Samsung and TSMC. But that day is very far from today, given how Mediatek is on 4nm and SMIC is still on its way to 10nm.
Let's hope that Huawei can cling in there. Because if it can, Kirin flagship chips will return one day, made by SMIC.
Anonymous, 25 Nov 2021Do you think Huawei will be able to produce new chips using the SMIC?Either SMIC or their own foundry.
NotCory, 25 Nov 2021Name a bigger downgrade than this. Sure they've been hit with sanctions but come on, 710A... moreIt's the only chip that can be produced without any US ip, which is a feat in itself. Kind of expecting SMIC's smaller node processes to come on line soon so Huawei can produce more chips.
Why do they even bother? Kirin 710 in 2021?!!
Unless it's like 100-120 euros, it's DOA.
What like 150-200 Xiaomi had two or three years ago?
This is almost an alledge scam
