RealLifePhones, 30 Dec 2021The difference to this year's "OLED Evo" isn't quite clear because LG said... moreTrue I also didn‘t get the difference. I looked up what OLED Evo promised, and found that it’s supposed to have 20% higher peak brightness. So maybe this is another improvement over OLED Evo, because at first I was afraid it‘s just a rebrand. And the bezel is ofc the other improvement. The whole „AI“ marketing stuff could be either to prevent burn in (like Apple uses) or some „image enhancing“ bs that should be turned off immediately, and I suspect it’s the second one.
GAMIRSFM, 30 Dec 2021Does it solve burn-in though, thats the only thing stopping me from using OLED on TV's an... moreOf course not, it‘s deep rooted in the technology itself. The only OLED where I‘d at least wait to see the results is from those QD Display that Samsung makes, which only uses 1 color (blue) of OLEDs instead of 3 (RGB on phones) or 4 (RGBW) on TVs. But this could go either way, and I‘m still pessimistic about it.
The difference to this year's "OLED Evo" isn't quite clear because LG said Evo also uses deuterium and an extra green layer. But the same level of marketing shit talk made everyone confused if Evo is just the panel or if it includes the panels ICs this year and LG doesn't seem learn 🙄 the "L" definitely doesn't stand for learnability
Water is more than just water 😁
They said exactly the same +30% for last year's EVO panel, also with the help of deuterium. And it did not really improve the full field brightness, however it should help to reduce the risk (or time required) of burn-in as the LEDs required less power due to better effiviency.
I just wonder if they really made another improvement in 1 year (I don't think so) or just trying sell last year's tech under a new name...
Anon, 30 Dec 2021....and Sharp hires "chinese oled makers" to make their stuff...Which is why the chinese OLED manufacturers are starting to raise the bar of their quality control over their products because of demands from quality-established brands.
If Apple starts sourcing OLED panels from BOE for the iPhones, then BOE will be forced to step up their game to be able to fulfill Apple's standards of quality OLED panels that they want for their iPhones.
Anonymous, 30 Dec 2021Sharp > LG > Samsung > Panasonic > chinese oled makers Chinese OLED makers are busy making next gen MicroLED.

"LG Display has figured out how to extract deuterium (also known as ‘heavy hydrogen’) from water ".
Water naturally has deuterium and tritium, but very low %. Not enouh to harm us.

This is why microLED exists.
Does it solve burn-in though, thats the only thing stopping me from using OLED on TV's and monitors.
