Mediatek's Quad core cortex A7 cpu uses SGX554 gpu, Novathor A9600 will use SGX Series 6 graphics. I'm not impressed Sammy. There's no way that it can compete with Tegra 4's ULP geforce.

What really amazes me is that people start making comments without reading the article properly and knowing the facts. The article says 544/mp3 not 543/mp3. 544 is equivalent to 543/mp2. This makes 544/mp3 twice as fast as the 543/mp3(this is the same GPU in the iPhone 5). I think we should be delighted if this what SAMSUNG is putting inside the S4.

The A-7S are there to prevent wasting energy on lite tasks and processes. The 4 monsters, A 15s are still there for heavy lifting. If only 4 A 15s are there well optimized, clocked at 2 GHz, nobody would have had any complains. That is a huge power. The challenge is the optimization of the OS and the applications.
As far the graphics, I think it is too early to judge, but better be very powerful with that many pixels.
When you have this kind of components, it is time for Samsung to realize they can not use any longer the cheep looking squicky bezels.
How can people be so dumb? -_- Even if the iPad 4 has a stronger GPU than the S4, it's a *tablet* and hence has a bigger battery to run a quad-channel bus (I'm not sure if it's dual or quad, but whichever, the point stands). Besides, even if the S4 has a FullHD display, the iPad has many more pixels to draw and needs a stronger GPU. A phone with a lower res doesn't.

Let's hope the octa doesn't turn out something like the tegra 3...the 4 cores don't wake up in half of the games...giving a veeery laggy gameplay..due to the single core.
It just shows that Sammy is just putting numbers lol they are like making trial and error, why don't they just focus to optimized solidly not creating cores after the other...I think even a single chip if it is made PROPERLY then it edge everything period!

And more than that, the ipad 4 has a quad-cannel memory bus, while the Exynos 5, probably has a dual channel bus.
Actually SGX543 is pretty quick though I would like the 554 or even better on sgs4.
I am confuse with the article. It talks about IPAD? it compares the samsung octa for phones with a tablet? tablets has more power. Samsung is trying to reduce temperature and extend battery life with this chip. By using low cpu when phone is not in heavy usage. This reduce 50% power consumption, means LONGER BATTERY LIFE. Please hope a good technician write this article. else it puts nonsense and confuse.

Apple's Ax is optimized to run perfectly on iOS which itself is optimized in using most of the available horsepower. That gives Apple a head over more juicier but less optimized competitive SoCs that ran by Android which itself is crippled by the Dalvik Virtual Machine.
Can anyone explain why despite the Octa core the GPU performance is not as good as the A6 architecture on the iPhone?. I guess Octa Core (Or the the top 4 cpu's) in the Samsungs chipset should easily beat the iPhone CPU despite iPhone running iOS and Samsung running on Android
