Anonymous, 07 Apr 2022But the Tab Active 3 uses an Exynos 9810, read the spec sheet, then comment lol. That Exynos ... moreNope, they do upgrade with every generation, but they sometimes they use confusing names for phones like the Tab S6 Lite, Tab S7 FE, S10 Lite, etc. Those devices are actually previous gen devices even though their names and release date suggest otherwise.

Chipset recycling is nothing new in smartphone world. Even other brands are doing the same as well.
mqondy, 06 Apr 2022NO samsung's not updateing your notes 9 or s9 series it time you upgraded your phone..fullstopIk that...
Since Samsung didn't provide Android 11 for those phones, ofc they won't provide Android 12... 🙄
Am just saying that they could actually update (if they really wholeheartedly wanted to...)

That Exynos ... moreOK, sorry not the S10 Lite, my bad, that uses an SD855
(Was a typing nistake) 😂
YUKI93, 06 Apr 2022Why would you upgrade when the new phone uses exactly the same chipset as the old one? That is... moreExactly, that is what I was wondering
If Samsung decided that Exynos 9810 is good enough to be reused, then why didn't they update the phones that used them in the first place (aka the phones that originally used em)

That Exynos 9810 is the exact same SoC that powers:
· S9
· S9 Plus
· Note 9
· S10 Lite
· Note 10 Lite
In conclusion, Samsung sometimes reuses an old chip instead of "upgrading" with every new generation

Udon, 06 Apr 2022So wouldn't the reg S3 get the same update? Tab S3 is from 2017, this one is a 2020 model.
So wouldn't the reg S3 get the same update?
mqondy, 06 Apr 2022NO samsung's not updateing your notes 9 or s9 series it time you upgraded your phone..fullstopWhy would you upgrade when the new phone uses exactly the same chipset as the old one? That is a literal money-grabbing planned obsolescence move right there. Having the same chipset recycled is one thing, not having USB-C 3.1 with DeX support is another matter.

Its funny that this device along with the Note 10 Lite gets Android 11 and 12, whereas the S9, S9 Plus and the Note 9 running the same SoC (Exynos 9810) can't go past Android 10.
Like Samsung come on, you can do it, give more updates to three of your best flagships (imo the 2018 flagships from Samsung were just great)
