Don't you understand that processes such as 32 nm don't refer to the die size, but the half-pitch? The point is that with the same die size, smaller processes allow more transistors.

Take apples chips for example:
-A13(7nm):8.7Billion transistors
-A14(5nm)11.8Billion
-15(5nm gen 2)15Billion
It get smaller but adds extra transistor count.Transistors can increase even though the die is smaller it's just that it's more complicated and expensive to manufacture

... moreWell thats a good idea.
my mom still rocking Iphone 8 before she had Iphne 6 but few years ago she breaks the screen and bought new one.
In past i always had Lenovo or Motorola which is the same brand now now i have Xiaomi.
Major reason is because for same price there arent better phones to buy.
When comparig specs to price Xiaomi delivers outstanding devices.
and like most people i will swap my phone in 2-3 years and my Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5G can easily last 2-3 years because its a great phone.
No Sony or Samsung have better or simmilar specced phone at that price range.

(1) I don't think you understand that "5nm" and "7nm" no longer refer to the space between transistors, it's simply a marketing trick to make people believe innovation is still happening in that department. Manufacturers will only claim that's a way to "name" their architectures. The number itself no longer holds any value.
(2) I can't find anything about the die size of the 8 Gen 1 or 888 online. I mean Wikipedia will give you that info for each SoC from the 800 to 870, but not the 888 or 8 Gen 1. Nor does any other site that I can find. The source on Wikipedia for the 870 die size is from a Techinsight teardown but you need an account to see their other teardowns. I'd like you to provide a source so I can actually tell what the 888 and 8 Gen 1 die sizes are. Because idk how you know what they are. I mean you haven't mentioned the actual value.
(3) I think what you're trying to say is you want more transistors even if the architecture isn't as efficient. And it might be true to say that the 8 gen 1 has fewer transistors than the 888 but I also can't find any info on that for those two either. It's like Samsung is trying to hide information. Anyways, if you have the details give me a source. Not that it matters anyways because if my interpretation of your argument is correct, your way of thinking is flawed.
You're not considering temperature in your replies to me, which is the biggest issue. But you did mention it in a reply to someone else. I mean come on, "I carry a slim 5500mah powerbank", "I have purchased carbon fibre and titanium back cover at 3mm thick". You're carrying an absolute brick if you're holding the case, the phone, and power bank all at once. In your case I can guarantee it's at least 20 mm even if the power bank is slim like you're saying. Nobody wants that.
So take away the power bank and case and you're left with a horribly inefficient phone that'll give you 2nd degree burns.
I mean part of your reasoning for wanting such an inefficient phone seems to be price because you're saying the inefficient architecture is cheaper, but even if it is, my original comment is literally "A Snapdragon 888 in a $1,512 phone?".
And these last few parts are just assuming you're right and the die size is smaller on the 8 Gen 1 than the 888. (although it's transistor count not die size that you should be looking at)
Rotciv Ikias, 30 Apr 2022WTF torque in smart phone chips😂😂😂😂😂lmaooo how much horsepower has your phone??

Ur trying to act like ur a tech expert but ur very oblivious of what ur saying
Lower node chips regenerate Less heat but can give u more performance boost than a chip that has higher TDP
TDP matters to an extent but do u believe a 70w chip can outpower a 150w chip
Just like how Apple m1 ultra may have the same performance with an Intel chip but draws less power(intel 12900k)
And can I ask u what are u using all those power u unlocked on ur s22 ultra to do???

Rotciv Ikias, 01 May 2022Pls go nd ask Google the meaning of torque nd the smaller the node the better stop explaining It what I like, I don't care about enery efficiency, because S22Ultra last all day. I've rooted mine with kernels, I can change voltage settings by higher or lower current too save battery or get maximum having all 8 cores and along with all Gpu running active at the same time, I like power and super fast transition that you can't get on 4 or 5nm Cpu, you need minimum 11watts or above at 15 watt TDP which S888 you can modify too 15watts Tdp, but with snapdragon generation 1, you can't go over 12watts, that's a rubbish trash useless cpu. Just like Arm A15 cortex cores which no phones manufacturers used because it needs 12watt off tdp too run it.
I carry a slim 5500mah powerbank, so even if I run out off juice it's there. Also I have purchased carbon fibre and titanium back cover at 3mm thick for the S22Ultra at £50, so even if it gets hot it stays cool due too thicknesses and material used. Much better than the standard cheap glass's back. You think cheap and your just a simpleton guy
77, 01 May 2022A smaller process size will create a smaller die size. And if die size is smaller, more dies w... moreIt doesn't reduce fabrication cost it makes it even more expensive because the smaller it is the harder to make.why do u think 5nm nd 4nm is mostly found on flagship chips eg. SD88,SD8 gen 1, A15,A14, M1chip etc
And the reason why small nodes are very needed for smartphones is that they run on battery so the chips need to be very energy efficient but also powerful at the same time
Who is giving u all this wrong information??

As you can see, the die size of the Xeon E7-8890 v4 is much larger than the i7–6950 and it has 14 more cores and 28 more threads too. The problem is the price though, not that many people will be willing to pay ~$7200
You can keep your poor 5nm vs my 9nm bigger die core wafer than you maggot V8 engine
