A non-tech girl-friend of mine uses a 3G modem before iPhone 1.0 existed ... not to mention a lot of my tech friends. And I live in Romania, one of the poorest countries in European Union, but still every city with more than 50.000 inhabitants has HSDPA (3.6 Mbs/7.2 Mbs) from at least two different providers plus 2.4 Mbs EVDO (CDMA2000 network). And another thing: if you connect on EDGE, the line becomes busy so nobody can call you. With 3G/HSDPA you can browse internet and still be available for calls. So you might realise now why europeans/asians prefer the Nokias which can be used as modems also and have 3G/HSDPA for a few years now.
is it really twice as thick as the iphone? almost had it right...what happened?
It seems that most of you guys dont know much about phones. If you check,Nokia sets the standards and on their own break records.
N95 came and revolutionized the phone industry, with first of its kind dual processors what you'll get with pc's,featured graphics accelerator...just to mention a few. Then came N96 which is even beta.
Also, what nokia calls mid-range is actually high-end in most phones e.g (1) 16 million colours lacking in sonyericsson. (2)wi-fi (3) atleast 340*220 which 5800 has surpassed it (4) a 3.2mp camera (5) latest symbian and not to mention a powerful arm11 processor equivalent to a pentium(II). Tell of which other brand gives you all these as a 'mid-range' phone.
What i like about this phone that it is symbian smart phone with accelerometer . Now hope so there will be lot of games develop on basis of this as we have in iphone. Then it will be real hit. As much i know nokia is not successful with any of his touch screen phone right until now.
ice05, 29 Jul 2008two words... iphone wannabe..how can it be a iphone wannabe when nokia came out with touch screen phones looooooooooooooooooooooooooong before apple released the iphone, and why would nokia get rid of alot of features on thier handsets like iphone, which hasnt even got file transfer, no mms...etc...etc
why dont you think before you write, it might get you some where in life.

Better try w980 than this one
i said when iphone was relased, that if nokia makes their own "iphone", that this is the one to buy, no apple iphone. With nokia you get the same look as iphone (maybe even better), no silly contract, much better quality in build and better performance, better camera and much wider selection of apps and games.
when is it comng out,i wanna buy it.can someone tell me the price in US dollars(USD)
If Nokia releases touch screen phones I'll buy them. If Nokia doesn't , I'll continue buying them. I prefer to have quality, and only will have It with Nokia phones.
awwwwwwwwwwwwww... it's not like tha 5700 at all.. it's supposed to have the rotating bottom.. that's what made it so awesome =/.. they killed it..
If you pay attention you'll notice this phone in the last Batman movie: the Dark Knight...
can nokia hopes to compete with apple with this phone ? we will see.
The future does look, still the internal memory should have been more.
What about the software stability?
Never mind. People will keep saying a phone is bad or good without even touching it (going further, using it for a month at least).
Some say, it is a "cheap copy of". Well, I do not know the price tag yet, but read the article: "As a mid-range phone".
Also, if we are down to features. All of you who miss a feature in a phone. Is that a feature You use frequently? Or you just complaining about not having it? Do you complain about not having a bycicle holder on your car, when you haven't sit on one for 5 yeard?
What are you using that phone for? Complain about missing 3g in iPhone for example. Are you traveling to Korea or Japan? Are you transferring data? If not, you don't even need it. 90% of you are receiving calls, sending sms (sometimes MMS), listening to music and making some low quality pictures (yes, even with 5 mP camera it is far from a good picture). It is "funny" to see how you argue on features. Start arguing on the look and on the battery power. Maybe on the sound quality. Because that is all, most of you ever judge a phone upon.
