2. They are already struggling selling smartphones in China. The Chinese no longer want them and even IF they sell millions of smartphones, it never even reaches 1% of their population.
3. In case you haven't heard, Huawei is sinking way faster. Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei’s memo has gone viral on internet.
4. Huawei is dead globally even in China, all they can do is pull a publicity stunt.

2) they can sell millions of phones in China just fine. Maybe you forgot they have a market of 1.4 Billion people.
3) Huawei is actually making a lot of money in spite in the US attempts to stifle competition (champions of the free market my a$$).
4) it's probably a good idea to keep their name in phones out there as things change. Huawei is not going anywhere.

But the Chinese seems do not want a Huawei smartphones anymore, so why they still bother making them?
Anonymous, 30 Sep 2022Why Huawei still bother making smartphones knowing they don’t have access to 5g and they know ... moreI definitely would buy it even if it isn't 5G. Also, some places doesn't even have access to 5G in the US just yet. The only thing that's stopping most people is no access to Google services, because 4G is more than adequate for most. In fact, I'm still using the 4G version of Mate 20x which is the longest I have ever kept a same phone. I have had all the latest Samsung/Iphones, but I keep going back to the Mate 20x. If and when the ban ever goes away I expect Huawei to go all out.

They were “sold out” and after that publicity stunt, sales never took off. If there is really such demand for the Mate 50 series they cannot make an excuse for not fulfilling it, they can get chipset for it. The mere fact they have other smartphone lineups that never took off as well, it just says the Chinese do not want Huawei smartphobes anymore.
Anonymous, 28 Sep 2022It is only "sold out" due to limited stock. It's definitely far more popular than other Chinese flagships though like the Xiaomi 12s ultra, Vivo x80pro, or Oppo find x5 pro. Of course sales won't get anywhere near the past 5g Huawei flagships. The kirin chipsets were such a huge selling point in China
Can't wait to see GSMArena get their hands on this phone. Variable aperture main camera and XMAGE custom ISP is definitely worth exploring.
