A energy crisis or even recession/inflation that high and all (shrinkflation, small business owners that are over debt after 2020) wasn't seeable a few month back, look at it now 🙃

The slightly cheaper Garmin is a great stopgap for those in remote locations, at least until Musk's Starlink phone service becomes operational (T-Mobile just signed an agreement). In the meantime, the iPhone 14 is the cheapest and easiest way for most occasional users to take advantage of what the technology offers.

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2022So satellite messaging is trending in 2022. Who even uses ancient cell towers anymoreI wonder why; perhaps planning a future blackout of the telecom grid ? Or perhaps not enough power to sustain all ? I hope I'm wrong about all this ✌

With the Recreation plan (and Expedition) the device can send location updates for free. With the Safety plan, each location update is $0.10.
I guess not many people can boast that they have received a text message from space...

Nobody is gonna point out the fact that the smaller, Safety subscription is actually a better deal than the Recreational one? If you send 40 texts with the Safety subscription you'll have to pay an overcharge of 0.5$ * 30 texts which is 15$. Add that to the 15$ subscription and the total is 30$, which is 5$ cheaper than the Recreational subscription.
How safe is this then, txs could end up anywhere,we wouldn't know 😱
So you carry a phone that does the same thing, for FREE and this device which costs money to use??? Wtf
garmin and inReach are at the end of life systems. At the next 2-3 years all the new smartphones iOS and Android will use at 100% satellites for SOS sms
So satellite messaging is trending in 2022. Who even uses ancient cell towers anymore
I'd like if this was the only way your girlfriend could text you, so she wouldn't annoy you 24/7.
