AnonD-99764, 06 Mar 2013Who in the world still uses gingerbread? OMG!Android caters to the low/mid budget markets, they make up the majority of old OS's, then you have people that keep their old phones.
To be fair, Gingerbread is a very useful OS, and had some of the least lag. It's still relevant today on lower spec'd handsets.
I think we can blame the processor race for lack of updates though. Faster and faster chips need to be produced to cut out lag, while Google then goes and takes advantage by including ever more bloat into Android to use it (followed by other manufacturers own bloat)
AnonD-99764, 06 Mar 2013Who in the world still uses gingerbread? OMG!Those whose phones cannot update pas gingerbread.
Who in the world still uses gingerbread? OMG!
lmfao... Gingerbread was released 28 months ago (2 years 4 months) and is still on 45% of android handsets. What's even more worrying is that the latest version is only available to 15% of all current users.
This is equivalent to Windows XP dominating the PC market.

As usual, those monitoring all messages are far too slow.
It would be a great help if, they'd get a move on and speed up a bit more. :)

Much better to stay on GB for singlecore phones, my nephews supercheap ZTE Blade on GB is impressive for an ARM11 CPU, wish i could say the same about LG dual core models on ICS, or even HTC One X on ICS.
But i know LG fans love ICS, since its the newest they have =) However i recommend they do NOT upgrade their 2X phones to ICS, you will regret, for sure.
Gingerbread should be pensioned off to a care home because its old hat now we have the Super duper jellybean.
yummy
is exactly as said android OEM sucks at updating their devices
Never ending versions of Android fragmentation.
I'm lucky to abandoned my GB-run device and enjoying my SGS3 with Jellybean.

i love GB especially moto's version...
Old, rusty 2.x still on devices. No updates? Of course, not. The only phone with updates out of 1800 chinese pieces of s**t is latest Nexus.
No way I could use this s**t. Beter use Nokia Asha for 30$ - fast, smooth, easy to use, no lags - than android with old OS, buggy, laggy, full of trojans.
"The Gingerbread userbase has dropped from 45.6% to 44.2%, but this is still enough to make it the most popular Android version globally."
gingerbread are NOT POPULAR... people using it because they stuck in it.. no update available for them.
