Here's hope that this list is the real thing.
In that case, kudos to Samsung.
The only phone that I think deserves Key Lime Pie but won't get it is the Premier.
neJANIS, 18 Mar 2013People who are complaining - you really should try other smartphones. I have Xperia Sola which... more+1 on this. Look at the Xperia Arc S, a flasgship from 2011 which got an AWFUL upgrade to 4.0 and has been abandoned ever since. The S2, from the same year, will be on part with the latest and greatest up until 4.2.2.
And here comes the sad part: other OEMs don't get better than that.
Now tell me, are you really going to diss Samsung for their "bad upgrade policy"?
It's fun how people flip the heck out when they're told their phones won't get an update their phones won't even take advantage of. 4.2 is barely making it out of the Nexus series, and samsung *could* deliver it to two-year old handsets, that's a new record.
I mean come on, the S2 is one of the best commercial Android phones ever (commercial = non-nexus). What if samsung spent time and money on releasing Android 5 for it, just to have people b*tch about how it slowed down their phones?
We just gotta admit Android is a fast-lived OS, and comparing it to, say iOS, makes no sense (iOS 6 is as versatile as Gingerbread, not even joking). Few updates on a mid-ranger is the price you pay for not getting cutting-edge hardware. Sad but true.
And one last thought, if you like Android and plan on ditching Samsung as your brand of choice, which other brand would you pick? Yeah, that's a though one. Nexus devices are great but availability is a shame.
That's some interesting information! My GS Advance stucks on Android 4.2.2... pity!
stop moaning guys, samsung have done a great job for software updates,s2 getting jellybean is more than enough for a device launched 2 years ago.i couldnt imagine how flooded this section would b if u are owning a sony or lg,lol
People who are complaining - you really should try other smartphones. I have Xperia Sola which was released last April with old 2.3 Android, than in October it was upgraded to slow and buggy 4.0 and thats it. Basically the same story for other manufacturers. 4.2 update for 2 years old phone is really, really good!
samsung charged me 500 euros for a Galaxy S back in the day and i never even saw Icecream sandwitch....not to mention its Gingerbread was buggy as hell....
regs, 18 Mar 2013lol@samsung Galaxy S III mini was just released and already at the end of life...same with grand :P
Anonymous, 18 Mar 2013This is why I'd be picking up the s3 the moment it's made available in my market. :DS3? Released long time ago... Wake up!
