Oh thank you for this wonderful trick (holding power button and volume up at the same time!) This worked! My phone had gone flat and was not accepting charge. I needed to go out so left it on charger anyway (dead flat and no light showing ) when home, still nothing, no light, would not turn on.
Tried the above technique and saw white Sony light. Then flashed up 100% charged so then turned it on as normal. All good so far, thanks!
Sony should admit there's an obvious problem with their Xperia phones and do a recall with a refund to dissatisfied customers who believed Sony was a good company that stood behind its products. But their strategy is to ignore the complaints and pretend they know nothing. A legal firm should start a class action lawsuit against Sony. There's a billion dollars for every 2 million defective phones they sold at average cost of $500.
Ajad Soni, 13 Aug 2017my sony xperia z2 wont turn on. i tried all methods using power button with volume up or down... moreCan I ask if you got this resolved. I've had the same issue now for just short of a month, and I have contacted Sony for a repair who say they can't repair my phone due to this issue, although I've seen many other people mention how this is how they got theirs sorted. Is there any other way of fixing the issue?
last week woke up at around 7:30am, my Sony xperia c5 was working well and was fully charged, went back to sleep and woke up at 10am only to find my phone dead.tried to put it back to charge and only the red light would show.have tried all sorts of methods to bring it back to life but none works for me.its such a disappointment from Sony really loved this phone.
Accepted (compulsory) Sony (software) upgrade, as there was no other option given.
I hate these upgrades and this one ended up to be no exception.
At first the phone worked much faster, but later that day I noticed the battery had dropped from 99% to 50% even though it was plugged in and I was not using it. A different cord allowed it to keep charge at the pace it was discharging (for a while) but after turning the phone off, I found that upon turning it back on, we were now down to 14%
Subsequently turning off every App I don't need managed to allow slow charge back to 20%, but within days the phone was down to a useless 5% and less.
There appears to be no fix for this, with purchaser waranty telling me that because the screen has a crack in it, they cannot fix the charging problem. The phone is less than 6 months old... and I continue to hate updates.
The payment will only charge using one of many many USB charging wires.
I don't understand why all the others do not work.
Some of them have previously worked - but no longer do.
Someone said that I will have to buy original Sony cables. I will do so to see if it makes a difference.
my sony xperia z2 wont turn on.
i tried all methods using power button with volume up or down or camera button , and the switch beside the sim card slot.
but othing works for me , i used 4 different usb and when i try to connect it to pc it doesn't connect.
then i open the back and remove the battery, it starts, but after two days same problem arise and nothing works, only red light blinks when i connect to charger pin.
Had My Z5C since launch day in the UK, last week it wouldn't charge when around my friend's house and when I got home to use the QuickCharge Adapter I usually use, there was still nothing.
After trying all the combinations of things offered over the internet, I purchased a new battery and charger port, I always find that batteries tend to start acting up after a year or so and heavily degrade and cause issues around the two year mark, so thought it was a good thing to do anyway.
Upon replacing both the charger port and battery (I've worked with mobile phones and computer equipment for many years, so it wasn't anything new to me), the issue still persisted.
The battery drained extremely quickly, I barely had enough time to backup all my data and move it to the SD Card, as the device is still unrecognised by any computer, it even makes the noise when it's plugged into a USB Charger (even comes out of battery saver mode) but alas not a single ounce of charge and no charging symbol.
The original battery was a bit of a mess, the covering had all bubbled due to the year and a half+ of insane temperatures put out by the device.
As much as it pains me to say it, I've considered that this may well be my last Sony phone, at least for a while. The constant overheating, the ludicrously high battery drain, the poor RAM management (I would only have a standard amount of apps and keyboard would sometimes force close when typing fast etc) and plagued with issues with many a firmware update, and with none of their newer phones really appealing to me for their price (needs to be better than the Z5C but with NONE of the issues and a similar size), I may have to switch out after a pretty consistent history.
I've been an avid Sony user for many many years, before the K700, however my ordeal with this has put me off severely.
Saying that, even Samsung have been plagued with issues. Friend's having "moisture in port" issues (when not having been near such) on the S7 and S8, so it's not like it's an easy thing to just get a phone that works flawlessly these days it seems. :/
Less than two years with a semi-flagship phone should not be the maximum, manufacturers need to up their warranty periods, regardless of how fast technology improves.
Recently updated my Xperia Z5 to Android 7.1.1. When I was using it afterwards the screen just went black, everything died. Not even a charge light would come on. Went through all the things suggested, and nothing is bringing this phone back to life. Not sure if the update had anything to do with it, but I am shocked. I have never had a phone last such a short amount of time. Since I bought the International model (E6653?) I was told I have to send it overseas just to have it looked at. But, from what I understand, Sony no longer does there own support in the U.S. anyway. Such a huge disappointment.
My sony xperia z ultra, wont power on. When charge sometimes red light blinking. I already tried hard reset (power+volume) and reset button. Still wont turn on. Also tried to reinsert battery. Is this battery problem?
Ok bear with me. My wife's Z5 premium died over a month ago when she restarted it. It never came back to life. I tried ALL the resets. It showed zero signs of life. I took it to a repair centre. They couldn't fix it. I tried again this morning. I had been getting the red LED for a few seconds when I plugged it in with the screen showing the charging symbol but the phone wouldn't do anything else. It went black and the LED went out. So what I did was plugged it in and as soon as the LED went red, I held the power button and volume down button and it came back to life. It seems to be charging normally. I've left it to charge for the day and will see when I get home. It needs an update so that will be the first thing I do. I will update further later
Gabyr6, 13 Jan 2017I have an xperia z2 who suffer from sudden death , 3 months ago happen the same thing, changed... moreMy z5 has the charge light come on for a couple seconds then once in boot it won't charge
Michelle, 27 Jun 2016My phone has just completely died whilst charging. Will not recognise the charger. No red li... moresame i got, not getting on, not connecting to pc too, dont know what to do, i tried all the ways. but nothing comes alive
I've tried every single method and I just can't make the phone work Again, I got the blinking red led when connected to a wall or computer, Any button combination wont work, not even the sim reset button, I tried the test point and is also useless, I left the phone charge for 2 days with no results, I unplugged the battery for several hours and also got nothing to work. My phone is the xperia z5 premium, I might just give up on this, I really loved this phone and its not even a year old.
I love my Sony z5 until today sudden dead. I tried trick posted by someone using google search and it come alive. This is the trick: preess power and volume up same time for few second, when feel vibration, release then press power button again to turn it on. Hope it works for you too.
