Just happened to mine, held the 2 buttons down for 15 sec, no good, held it down for 2 minutes let go put in charger and bam up it came, fingers sore but happy
I was playing with my phone until I decided to charge it. I pressed the power button (but not intended to shut it down, just to lock it) and when I connected my charger, it wouldn't start, or connect to the charger. I've had tried all of those options (press power button alongside the volume button, but nothing worked out.) what should I do?

The only thing that happens now is when I plug it in, the red LED turns on, after about 5 seconds, flashes green for less than a second, goes red again for 5 second, turns off for about 2 seconds and then repeats this cycle. When connected to PC it gives a connect/disconnect notification sound at the green flash but Xperia Companion doesn't proceed to "the next step" after connecting it whilst holding the volume down button.
If I hold the power and volume down when plugged in, sometimes LED flashes blue/purple for about 2 second after being red and then turns off and repeats the above cycle again.

Such a defective model they've come up with..too bad SONY..too bad
My Xperia Z2 started doing this after I flashed a pre rooted marshmallow rom. Phone boots, dims (reaches lock screen sometimes) and restarts. Can't switch off phone. Phone went on till it died. If I charge, it turns on itself and continues to restart. Can't boot into TWRP, can't boot into flash mode

If directly plug to a power source you can use wmcda. Sony is a very bad company for selling expensive phones that can run only on gsm mode

If you rooted and have working recovery...
Plug your phone to charge, hold power and volume+ till vibrates 3 times then let it boot. If you get to a Sony logo screen, either you wait if it boots fully or as soon as the logo appears and phone vibrates once you hold volume- green led will change to purple and you enter recovery, where you can flash your rom again. If you have no root and recovery then: power and volume+ for reset, let it boot. If it doesnt then download pc companion to your computer and follow instructions. If your phone seems cant connect with usb, post again i keep an eye on this site.

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2016Hi Guys, I have a Sony xperia Z1 and last night my phone randomly decided to shut off complet... moreMy Sony M4 Aqua did the same, was sent out under warranty through my provider and just learned even Sony cannot repair and they are replacing. The phone is nice when it works but the service and support from Sony leave too much to be desired, they have had the phone for 24 days now, only today told me it would be replaced but still cannot even tell me when my new phone will be shipped. At this point it will be at least a month before I see my Sony phone again. If your phone has suffered the same and you have paid it off already I would switch to a brand that actually supports thier product.
I have a Sony xperia Z1 and last night my phone randomly decided to shut off completely with almost 50% battery left. About an hour after it went off I held the power button down and the phone vibrated then the Sony start up screen appeared but went blank again. I tried charging the phone but it didn't even seem to acknowledge it was connected to anything though every so often the led light flashed red. I have tried the various button combos you can press (power+ volume up, volume down) but with no luck, I've also tried connecting to my pc and pressing the red reset button by the sim but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help please?! Thanks!
My Sony Xperia z3 will charge load the start up screen then crash turn off and do the whole thing over and over can anyone help me as I can't loose the stuff on my phone thank you
Mine is dead for over 2 months now and doesn't start up at all/. Red light sometimes shows when charger is plugged while holding the power button.
Otherwise tried all the holding combinations but nothing.
Please, if someone finds a solution share...
my Xperia z got a problem two days back I can't hear when am calling someone. I have to put it in loud speaker to tok someone I have called. I really need help cause I just can't lose my phone just like that
I think it's because of the recent 5.1.1 update .. phone charges but doesn't wake up ... tried repairing with PC companion but no luck .... I think sony intentionally gave a malicious update which bricked all old phones so ppl buy a new one !!!! no sony ... sure gonna buy one but not sony... not anymore ... xperia z still have enough power to compete against all the modern phones .. besides my phone looks like a new one as I used it carefully ... why do I need to buy a new one then??
Sony xperia z5 less than 6 months old. In the last 3 weeks it had frozen and rebooted twice and in the last week had lost 4 mins compared to pc/sat nav clock. Today when it had 80%+ of charge it vibrated for longer than normal and died. It was roasting hot, plugging it into various chargers did nothing, reset button did nothing, power and plus volume got three vibrations then nothing and it's been a paperweight since. Had I known about the chance of sudden death I would never have bought a Sony.
