Mmmma, 04 May 2023Nothing can beat the steam dick for price/performance But Asus is getting close You mean dock? 💀
Vegetaholic, 04 May 2023The price is shit, no one will buy it, if it would be 699 like on USA, when it would have been... moredo you have difficulty reading? or is the price difference between 699 and 699.99(700) the deal breaker for you?
Mojojojo24, 06 May 2023its not double the battery life ..it has same capacity battery. to double performance it uses ... moreROG claims you can get 50% more performance at the same power output as the Steam Deck, but can also push the performance upto 2x of steam deck they didn't mention how much power is needed to push up that high but I doubt it is double for the extra 50%. it could be but I doubt it. These kinds of things are pointless to speculate for now though and we'll have to wait for performance and endurance benchmarks.
posts like these I feel like are a good time to educate your global audience that the US $700 is before tax and the €800 price is inclusive of tax and that makes it totally normal.
Anonymous, 05 May 2023Dude it's double the performance, longer battery, the fan is way quieter, the screen is b... moreits not double the battery life ..it has same capacity battery. to double performance it uses 2x more power too ... so half battery life double power
... You know that VAT varies across European countries too, right?
Vegetaholic, 04 May 20238cu!!!! Not 12Ah, you're right. My mistake. Nonetheless, point still stands.
Waaat, 05 May 2023700 in USA and 800 in EU? What the actual f*ck?US prices don't include taxes yet. Since taxes vary per state and city. Lucky for people if taxes are low in their area, but it can get punishing on big ticket purchases in some areas.
Meanwhile EU prices (despite their high taxes) already include the tax (you pay for what you see.)
700 in USA and 800 in EU? What the actual f*ck?
We need to see a lot of real world testing. At the end it may turn out Steam Deck is cheaper, easier ot use and indeed not that much slower. For one Steam deliver the games with per-compiled shaders and many AAA titles of the last few years have issues compiling their shader leading to bad stutering even on top of the line PCs. Yet the deck works smoothly....
Anonymous, 04 May 2023Steam deck's linux-based OS is a pain. You have to watch tutorial videos just to learn ho... moreDo you own a Steamdeck? I am pretty happy with it. It is actually simpler to use then Windows.
Indeed I installed couple of 3rd party launchers and am now removing them. There is no point in them. Steam has many games and decent promotions. I opened my Steam account only 6 months ago and now have about 30 AAA games that I bought at very attractive discounts.
Anonymous, 04 May 2023Battery life is a stellar 2 minutes, lol. Get a real gaming device instead of these lame wannabes.Nobody plays games on battery on their gaming laptops lmao. And these portables can use powerbanks and are more convenient than your monster deskptop/ rtx laptop.
Wojtek , 04 May 2023I don't have a TV. and it's quite inconvenient to drag laptop on my commute... or a ... moreAgree. They also forget a portable+egpu setup can be done at home for a desktop experience. Which will run circles around potato desktops/laptops. ;)
But the same myopic view, sadly, sometimes also applies to Deck diehards. No one who wanted a physical keyboard will choose the Deck over a GPD model. And the Deck 1 can't use an egpu unless the back cover is removed.
Vegetaholic, 04 May 2023The price is shit, no one will buy it, if it would be 699 like on USA, when it would have been... moreThe Steam Deck is not the end all, be all of portables. Some people who want a more powerful one will buy the better model, especially if they have more moolah.
Vegetaholic, 04 May 2023The price is shit, no one will buy it, if it would be 699 like on USA, when it would have been... moreDude it's double the performance, longer battery, the fan is way quieter, the screen is better. The steam deck price is low bcs valve can make the money back from games, ROG can't, they gotta make profit somehow
Bernadetta, 04 May 2023Honestly though, I wonder how weak the 256GB Ally will be compared to the Steam Deck. Remember... more8cu!!!! Not 12
The price is shit, no one will buy it, if it would be 699 like on USA, when it would have been Deck killer, no just another overpriced garbage
I think everyone is missing one important thing here. Any handheld competitor to the Steam Deck is still a win for Valve. One of the first things most people will do is install Steam on the Ally.
Lultage, 04 May 2023Bruh the steam deck is 500 for best version and rog has 2× performance so 700 is cheap.Cheap for who???
Old gameboy or Nintendo very first edition were a lot cheaper and was equally funny to use and play on it.
