Samsung have really done a good job turning phones into brick size, since then all other manufacturers have followed suit except Apple.
Not everyone wants a big screen phone or a phablet. People sometimes just want something that packs power but remains a nice size. I hope Apple don't follow suit of their Android rivals, 4.5 would be a maximum suitable size for many people.
To those who disagree with this petition:
We're not asking to replace the big screened phones, we're just asking that we don't sacrifice a lot just by asking for a small sized phone.
You don't need to worry about the future of your big phones. The flagships will always remain huge in order to "look huge".
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2013so you guys want a powerful device but in small form factor? how are you going to even power i... moreRazr i already has 2000mAh battery. With a bit of development, they could make this phone we're craving
-4.0-4.5 inch of HD res
-2 GB of ram (1 GB was ok but not enough for heavy multitasking)
-quad core processor (or dual core intel if its motorola)
-At least 16Gb memory with micro-sd slot (razr i only has 8)
My bet is on motorola as they're the ones who seem most interested and capable of achieving this.
I dont understand ppl bashing this post. we're not asking for a 1.5" screen here. We just need a powerful phone that's pocketable. If you think you cant read news, play games, or browse on a 4.3" inch phone, you're hardly gonna be able to do so on a 5 incher.
For now im content with my razr i. Its pretty fast, handles all the big games and has a good screen. Its not perfect however, and im still looking for that one perfect, pocketable phone.
GOOGLE cannot be less bothered by this as they are concerned about their own series. As Motorola ( that guys who made Razr v3) will be releasing their last (X) phone under their 'Motorola Mobility' name. After that all decisions based on Motorola will be processed by them... think Sony Ericsson > Sony.
If the motorola RAZR i had a good camera, then we wouldn't need this petition.
I want almost everything the Galaxy S3/S4 has but with a 4.0" or 4.3" screen and minimal bezel.
Display this post prominently on your main page , not as a news item.
Or post in your blog.
Another thing you could do is to get other tech websites to endorse it as well. :D
Anyway, I signed the petition
Bm, 20 Apr 2013Bigger screen is better there is no dout . We are not like small children to difficult to carr... moreDo you understand the word 'sweet spot' where more or less cause problems...even car engine has it peak torque at one point..in my opinion 4.5" screen with 65mm or less width is a sweet spot for a 'PHONE'...
Isn't there a petition for higher RAM and less lag? because they've been doing pretty well with the sizes.
Android oem never quite hit the sweet spot of a perfect user experiance.. I always a big fan of android os but the hardware combo is a letdown(size n performance skinned ui)..i am now disappointed after using sgs3 and now one x..gonna go wif ios to cure my disappointment, maybe :(
I wanted a nice
-Aluminium Brushed Anodized full Body phone with Removable back cover
-physical QWERTY keyboard
-12+MP camera w/LED and XENON flash
VERY SMOOTH AND OPEN OS
OHH SHIT WELL LOOK AT THAT...Nokia had the Nokia N950
Maximum screen size should be 4,3'' , because it is the maximum size that allows the average Joe to use the phone with one hand hassle-free. Any bigger than that, and using it with 1 hand becomes quite the challenge (save for the people with unusually large hands). Anything more than 4.3'' = phablets.
i want a phone with the capacity and performance of the samsung s4 but smaller like the samsung s3 mini
Size and shape - Galaxy S2 (A lil think will also do)
Processor - Quad core
Ram - 2GB
Batery - 2000
Screen - retina display/AMOLED with RGB matrix
Back Cam - 8mp pretty enuf
Front can - 2mp as usual great
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2013already happened, dude...
http://www.mobileindustryreview.com/2013/01/lenovos-27-tablet-is-a-... moreMadre de Dios! What is this? Thanks for having shown this to me and everybody here, pal.
Hey, Bm, you are so fan of big things, what about buying this device, and carrying it to your work, in a subway and so on lol? After all, biggest is the best, right lol?
i need a medium size smart phone with key pad & touch screen
with big battery & minimum 5 megapixel plus led flash..
with good processor & enough ram etc,,]
sad not even a single phone i found yet
all are large screen , low battery backup..
I think most of the guys commenting here haven't seen the resolution of iPhone 5 in 4'' display. I have a galaxy tab 2 10.1. I have to zoom to view Bangla fonts in a Bangla Online Newspaper on that huge tab. But I can almost clearly read the paper on iPhone 5 without zooming. So, if iPhone 5 becomes success using higher pixel density & processing capability, low power consumption in a 4'' device, why not top android manufacturers following this?
Another thing is, to me, length & thickness of android phones is not a big issue. That means, there is no difference whether my phone is ultraslim or not. The only issue is width i.e. how comfortably I can hold and use a phone by one hand.
An android with 4''-4.5'' display & more than 350 ppi, , 1.5 GHz or greater quad core processor, more than 3000 mAh battery (no matter if thickness is increased)is my dream phone for today.
