AnonD-149678, 14 Jun 2013Reasons why we are not scared. -Samsung fans have asked for a Zoom camera to crush the EOS... moreLol, lol, lol at your comment! Like you're worshipping a kind of idolatric god. Funny and sad together.
EOS is ready and coming!!!
yes!! another epic camera phone! people who use the 808 preview might jump to the nokia eos!!! wish light and hd screen!
AnonD-147486, 14 Jun 2013You are one of the smartest guys to post here even if you are an android fan I respect you....... moreI'm in no way an Android fanboy.
I'm an android user at the moment.
And at the moment, it's true that WP does not support quad cores.
And quad cores can come in handy if you are trying to process images at high resolutions. But why would you try to do that on phone grade hardware, with a small screen, bad touch precision, and probably pretty low resolution (I dont know the resolution of the NX screen).
WP doesnt make more sense than Android for a camera.
In a camera phone it's a very different matter, there a camera OS has no place. WP is still missing some apps.
But I'm getting a ~8" tablet, and I could easily live with WP in the future. So I'll go for the best option when other features are considered, and at the moment I think the camera will be the feature most important in my next mobile.

Lolololol!!! HD game on that sh!t?? You made my day!!!!
AnonD-78488, 14 Jun 2013Oh dear. I'm still hoping Nokia bettewr come up with better camera design than what we have in... moreI do agree, the design is hardly perfect.
The hump on the back doesnt have to be round.
But I think they did so, to show that it's camera centric.
If they did it discretely, if would just seem like another phone used fo taking pictures. No one would guess that it probably does it better than the rest.
I think Nokia is hoping that people that sees the EOS held up to the ear should assume its a good camera as well. And I do get that point. Nokia need sales, so they need for people to be intrigued.
The design therefor has to scream good camera.
The 808 didnt scream that, mostly it seemed old and thick, by no understanble reason.
But sure, there is probably some other way to to it...
And if they want a round humb on the back, why not make the plastic touch sensitive, so it can be used kina like the zoom/function rings found on many high end compacts and the S4 Zoom.
Anonymous, 14 Jun 2013I'll see what this stupid nokia will do. We have 16MP AF BSI CMOS Sensor with 10x Optical ZOOM... moreS4 Zoom, really isnt a Phone, but a compact camera with built in phone.
What that does mean, is that it's allowed to be made much less pocketable, with pertruding parts, like the lens and the grip.
S4 Zoom has a small sensor, like the ones found in cheap compact cameras. And that is what it is, but with higher price, due to the built in phone and it's specifications.
Sure the PV 808 can't match the 10x optical lens, by its crop zoom. It's just that in a device you use as a phone, a hugh bump with zoom lens is just not practical.
If you dont like the image quality of the 808 or 920, then you probably don't like the image quality of any cameraphone, since those are two of the absolute best ones.
I can get that, they sure are no where near good compact cameras, DSLRs, or full frame DSLRs, but you have to put in to perspective, it's a phone! 808 and 920, is a good as you can expect in a phone, but with only slight improvements each year.
The s4 zoom wont even beat the 808 on all aspects, since it's also much of a compromise, beeing based on a lower mid end compact camera.
And its mostly almost as far from the image quality of the Full Frame DSLRs from Canon and Nikon, as phone cameras, despite the much less practicle larger format than the mobiles.
A real pro, or entusiast, could imagine getting one of the better camera phones, to complement their real set-up. None of them would probably ever consider the S4 Zoom.
And about the ability to take better pictures with Samsung and Sony mobiles, sure you can take better pictures, as tech specs does not take the picture its all up to the photographer.

AnonD-149678, 14 Jun 2013I just asked in our samsung forum.
They said Android is the only OS that can run
a camera li... moreWell it's true that WP does not support those processors at the moment.
But why would you want a smartphone OS in a camera?
A smartphone OS has a long boot-time, you dont want that in a camera.
Smart Phone OSes are not made for cameras, and thus are not streamlined to focus on imaging and capturing images, so they need much more processing power to try to work round the fact. Processing power eats your batteries, and the fact that you need a workaround, often results in lag, shutter lag, and starting the camera from standby.
SO what would be the upsides?
Well, apps, you can get allt your upload services, and social media services that uses images. You also get the ability to download apps that do certain image manipulations.
But on the other hand, most of that could be handled by better mobile sites, without the need for a smartphone OS, but simply a streamilined OS, with a mobile browser. And at tops a upload app, with plugins to direct images to the right place.
In camera image manipulations, can be made possible with smartphone apps.
And that is true. Don't expect to find a lot of options for in camera image manipulations in a camera running a streamlined OS. You can get features like the ones seen on Nokia, HTC, Samsung mobiles, with the ability to remove moving objets from pictures. Chaning faces (for example to get a picture with everybody smiling at the same time), and so on.
Touchscreens dont have the resolution and touch does not have the precision to do any real in detail image manipulations.
And those fetures like removing objets on so on, actually relies on images taken in series, and you can set pretty much any good compact up to pro grade Full Frame DSLRs to do that. THen you could import those to a phone or tablet, and download an app and do the same.
If its any real image procesing you are in to, you probably wouldnt want to do that in the camera any way.
So what you get is a camera with long boot time. Less performance or much higher battery drain (in a camera that often drain the battery too fast anyway). But some in camera image processing option that you wouldnt get otherwise, but at a basic level and at the cost of those other drawbacks.
There are things you could want in the OS in your cameras, that is missing. But Android or WP would not be the way to go. Some streamlined open source (possibly linux) OS could give you that, but without the drawbacks. And with wifi, bluetooth, NFC you could create links with mobiles or tablets if you want more features.
S4 Zoom, kinda makes sense as a product, as long its not seen as your main mobile, but a compact camera that can be used as a mobile, but mainly has that feature cause the radios needed are there anyway for the ability to use SIM-card and uploads to services. And since it's not trying to be a pro or entusiast device, those basic image processing apps are in line with the users.
Nokia "EOS", is a phone, but with some effort put in to the camera. Sure, with the sacrifice of the device being somewhat thicker than usual. But not as impratical as the added lens and grip on the S4 zoom, thus making it more pratical as your main phone.
The upcoming Sony "Honami", seems to be a device more in the line of the "EOS" than the S4 Zoom. And Sony has the best compact camera you can get, the RX100, if the right people are on board in developing it can be a very promising device.
Both the "EOS" and "Honami" should be mobiles, with improved cameras, and not be seen as cameras.
And the S4 Zoom is just a basic compact camera, with a hihger price, due to the built in phone and its features, and specs.
The Galaxy NX is supposed to be a good camera for entusiasts, but Android contradicts that.
