People have been wanting Nokia to release a Android phone for Ages,as the Partnership with Microsoft as not been succesful,Nokia was Popular but Microsoft were not,an Microsoft thought they could be as good as Apple, but they are miles behind as will never be so Popular,Microsoft just needed someone to Improve there Portfolio,an they chose Nokia,an made one of there old employees become the Chairman at Nokia,Mr Elop who just acted like a Salesman for Microsoft an not a Chairman at Nokia,o.k he promise Investment into Nokia but how he convinced the Nokia Board that Windows was more better the Symbian was truelly Amazing,Nokia dumped Symbian an Meego,an ever since they have been on a Decline with Windows,How Microsoft got Nokia to dump micro sd card slots an removable batteries from phones as been another big mistake at Nokia,Samsung are just Loving this time with Android, but they want the old battle with Nokia to start again an We All want this to happen,i only left Nokia because of Windows an did not like the Restrictions on there phones
All android users were symbian users before many years.
Sysmbian OS was the best in the past and no one at that time can stop the train of nokia.
Nokia will change the mobile story and will destroy all brands if it put android OS, and I am sure that nokia will be the winner if it put android OS
Nokia+Android= No. 1 Phone Seller and the best mobile company.
nokia beats all the mobile co. if they get android...
Nokia should make dual SIM Windows phone. That's all they need, as dual SIM market grows rapidly. Noone should rely on one network only.
i still choosing Sony or HTC even Nokia go to adopt the king OS Android.
Nokia, please don't go for crapdoid.. If u go for crapdoid then bye bye nokia for me...
Imagine a Lumia920/925/928 with Stock Android and easy unlockable bootloader.
This would rock the shit out of everything else..
A Nokia Lumia with S800, Android and easy unlockable bootloader is my wet dream.
If the 928 was android plus ir blaster I would not have an s4 but it doesnt and the s4 is a better all rounder and battery kicks arse
I agree with the guy in the above post. I'm not saying that WP isn't a good operating system, not at all. It's just that if Nokia wants to bigger and better, they should produce a few Android handsets. Nokia can make both, like all the other manufactures in the above post. They have a closes source's OS, why not use the open source to get back on their feet?
Anonymous, 01 Jul 2013Nokia maps got more uncharted regions than Google. End of discussion.good luck exploring all of your 'charted' regions
nokia does not need android but it does need to put eggs in other baskets maybe jolla sailfish would be a good bet as u can run android apps and they can keep ther maps, even up to date symbian would be nice cause windows phone equals zero profit.
AnonD-4697, 01 Jul 2013Actually it did it, you see Nokia has a partnership with many stores and special locations for... moreNot entirely accurate mate. Revenues were generated , but in very little percentage and in hadful markets only. Also its not in the comparo of efforts invested in development. Remember , Nokia had a huge cash in to develop the maps from scratch.
Secondly, when HERE has the potential to get the revenues why not make it as a app and release to other smartphones?
Nokia is a stubborn company. Even samsung as a market leader in smarphones finds it hard to sell windows phones, don't nokia open their eyes
The question Nokia is up against is whether their bottom line is better with offering also Android than getting compensated by MS for carrying only Windows? The answer appears to be no. In fact, it may be MS that would have liked to get out of their partnership to save that compensation.
The trouble with MS is that it's never first with anything and therefore relegated to catchup. That strategy has worked because of their muscle all though costly in the case of say the XBox. (Is that what Bill G. was thinking of when he recently called MS a well managed company?)
MS is banking on unified Windows to sell Windows on phones - people's willingness to pay say $40 extra in order to have the same OS as on their PC. It'll probably work to some degree. But not until people upgrade/renew their PCs.
To be Honest, its too late for Nokia to jump in Android's league or even maintain a dual portfolios.
I am sure none of the management at Nokia are interested to join android and lose the funding by MS.
In short Nokia has to survive with Win Os phones only. Totally dependent on MS
