Anonymous, 24 Jul 2013The iPhone 3G/3GS were both plastic and they were the most durable and comfortable iPhones eve... more3gs is plastic? i think not.. i got a very heavy metal slab 3gs. where the HTC hero users used to teas it using metal detector app.
probably best time to get an iphone 4s. one of the best built phones to this day in my opinion
Apple shouldn't make a budget iphone because it's a company known for premium phones and producing plastic iphones will make the company lose its reputation
AnonD-121494, 24 Jul 2013lol. troll. Have you ever tried breaking the "teeny paper thin plastic"? It's design... moreyeah agreed, mine will flex to almost 90 degrees, i don't want to bend further just in case i actually snap it, but it is very flexible, oh and if it was actually damaged it would be like a few quid to replace as opposed to the parts for the "premium" models
Anonymous, 24 Jul 2013Stronger? AHAHAHAHAHAHA Have you ever taken the battery cover off an S4? It's teeny pap... morelol. troll. Have you ever tried breaking the "teeny paper thin plastic"? It's designed to be flexible, not hard so that it would snap.
A low cost iphone would just be stupid. The Iphone 5 has the specs of a midrange droid yet costs more than the latest droid flagships. If apple indeed made a low cost iphone, it would have the processing power of a nokia feature phone.
At first glance a budget iphone makes sense given that there is money to be made in the mid market segment. However it does go against the premium/superior/elitest/ego (delete as appropriate) branding that makes Apple stand out in the first place.
Now before I go any further, I have owned both top end iPhones and Androids so I hold no bias either way with Apple or Android and would gain nothing by doing so (anyone who has read any of my posts before will already know this).
What you can't get away from is the fact that a big part of owning an iphone (or any other Apple product) is the status element and, sadly, a lot of people will automatically go out and by an iphone for this reason alone. If Apple choose to drop in to the mid market sector as well then some of that exclusivity status instantly disappears.
Furthermore, just how much bang will you get for your buck when most of the price of an iphone is the Apple branding itself - and that's before we enter the BS-laden minefield of build quality, user experience etc which are highly subjective areas anyway, and now form the staple of most brands self image projection.
You need look no further than the scaled down tablet that is the ipad mini. It's frankly a joke in terms of specs vs price.
Apple need to be careful because people are becoming less and less likely to fall for the 'Apple offers a superior user experience/build quality' argument that I mentioned earlier. If they can pull off a well specced mid ranger that offers real value then fair play to them, I'm not sure Mr Jobs would be looking down too favourably on it though.

"Despite the popularity of cheap smartphones, this will never be the fut... moreyou are quoting half a comment made in january this year, when the iphone was less then 3 months old, apple is looking to getting into emerging markets as with all tech companies, what they say one minute is not what they do the next, i draw your attention to the ipad mini, a device that was said would never happen, simply because there was not a market for small tablets, subsequently the ipad mini came out and started outselling the larger ipads simply because of the increased portability, then he moved to attack 7" tablets, at the end of the day, until it is released nobody knows for sure, but it would be safe bet to say they will bring out an iPhone lite to aim for markets such as china and the far east as well as south american countries and eastern european countries also IMHO.
Guys this is the works of the Chinese. I stay in Zimbabwe and I have seen lots of these covers and even the actual phones. Chinese are good at making replicas that can fool even experts. It really takes seasoned geeks to decipher the difference. These fakes are so common in emerging markets especially Africa simply because major OEMs do not formally launch their products here and in most cases there are no formal retail shops for these OEMs.
even more hideous and fAK.E. Other brands advertisement looks perfect and no fake
AnonD-66139, 24 Jul 2013low cost iphone ??? What they are afraid of samsung rex or nokia asha phones?Of course, they are afraid of all the better phones out there (like the Asha).
the worst fake item i have ever seen . It is clearly a plastic case with a chassis from an iphone pushed inside it .Apple will and only make premium products for lots of money , what next a budget imac ? NO because it would NEVER happen .
