"...and wallpaper to come preinstalled on the device"
wow! neat feature. I most waited for it from android phone.
RD, 02 Aug 2013Why did Motorola reduce the battery power? Maxx packed a punch of 3300 MaH.This is not a maxx version. There is now a 5" RGB AMOLED Droid MAXX with 3500 mAh. The rest of the specs is the same as the Moto X.

No, it's just the same as S3 only with marginally larger screen og still not the best screen.
"It has a much faster CPU and GPU, a better camera, more features, a better battery life, a bigger screen."
Then why does it perform the same in 1080p offscreen tests? And considering the Moto X runs 720p it will get higher fps in demanding games, as well as handle 3D-apps better. As of now, the Moto X will get the higest FPS in gaming.
Moto X also features new battery saving cores and will almost surely perform better on battery life. S4 performs pretty equal to the much smaller RAZR i, which does not feature the same battery optimizing tech as the Moto X, and the RAZR i has smaller battery than the X.
"It is a great upgrade over the S3. Design change, on which many people seem to pointlessly insist, is definetly not innovation."
Same design, only slimmer bezel. No change. Still laggy TouchWiz.
The Cosmicist, 02 Aug 2013Yes, I've heard of the Octa-fail processor. Graphics aren't as good as S600, and battery life ... more The S4 is innovative. Funny Fanboys, 02 Aug 2013Look at size before you judge the battery capacity!! this is not a giant note.. so 2200 is und... more Benchmarks are the only objective way of measuring processing power, unlike people opening up different apps with the phone and sayingt that they think the phone lagged.
And how can you prove Samsung cheated in the benchmarks? The S4 rarely lags, so it's not that bad.
Why did Motorola reduce the battery power? Maxx packed a punch of 3300 MaH.
Samsung fanboys are simply interested in big things. Gosh someone please explain them, its not the Big screen or Big Battery or Bigger RAM that makes a phone. Even a 2200 mAh with 4.3/4.7" screen, can do much better than Current overhyped S4.
seriously these guys need a break, they want the mobile market to become immobile(larger screens).
ThomasCarlsson, 02 Aug 2013Curved glass, how will that survive droptests...?
I expected Moto X to have specs... to be ab... moreThe camera in HTC One is just a ordinary cellphone camera with low resolution resulting in larger sub pixels than other cellphone cameras, but still far from the likes in pro-sumer compacts. "Ultra pixel" is just a marketing term, it means nothing at all. Their lens was un-impressive and so was the software.
Clear pixel is the name of a image sensor technology. It is patended so no one else can use it, well at least not without licensing it, and it does improve low-light capabilities significantly. That and keeping the pixel count high - yet not too high - shuold give impressive results.
S4 is a badly made phone, that's why I didn't buy it. It's laggy all through the whole phone. Just another HW-bencmarker with hugely disappointing performance in daily usage.
Conserning the specs of the Moto X:
It's pretty much just in high-end 3D rendering - and similar - you will need massive power, and for that the GPU does a great job. It's on top in the benchmarks for that - even when run offscreen at 1080p. Which are pointless benchmarks, as it's on-screen which matters. Don't know why gsmarena prioritze the off-screen results.
But at least it proved that it as good the the cheating HW-benchmarker S4 octa in GLBenchmark 2.5 Egypt. So obviously in real life it's even better as it's not having to draw 1080p, and because it's not cheating. Same with the GLBenchmark 2.7 T-Rex, pretty much on top in off-screen 1080p, but in real life it will outperform the other who have to draw up 1080p.
Moto X turned out to be a disappointment after all the hype for following reasons
2. 60-fps shooting
3. No immediate launch in countries outside USA
Look at size before you judge the battery capacity!! this is not a giant note.. so 2200 is understandable.
Use before you judge the benchmarks!! this is not a cheater brand like samsung who boost gpu before test. Proof is iPhone 5 is faster with dual core vs a octa core!! This one is a custom cpu, we will not know until the REAL LIFE test. (I Stress real life, not some dumb benchmark tools)
And look at price before you judge.
I wonder what made them wait so long to come out with this phone. Now coming to the point yes i have few doubts and suggestions to make here..
MIC - Firstly cant they integrate a mic port onto the phone and next to the earphone? As this will help me to use bigger and better noise cancelling earphones and record super clear notes, music or even help for phone calls.
USB - Secondly cant they integrate US3 connector which is faster to fill up those 16gb + 46gb space and which can also be used to fast charge our mobile phones?
OS - Yea even i am wondering why not 4.3 OS? Maybe they have build this phone long time back with testing done with 4.2.2 and that time 4.3 wasnt available.
Battery - I guess the standard battery these days should be atleast 3000mah capacity. Nothing less then this should be acceptable. I dont care those round edges of the phone which may make a hole in my pocket but i do care about the battery life
HDMI - yea i want this to be seen on my phone each and every time. I wan that micro or mini HDMI connector sitting where i can simply use the cord to connect it to my TV or monitor
USB Host - is this possible?
Curved glass, how will that survive droptests...?
I expected Moto X to have specs... to be able to compete with S4..., but the only interesting thing about Moto X is the camera, but I fear it will just be as overhyped as the useless camera on HTC One!
After using iPhone, I prfer non-removable battery. so now my current phone is Sony Xperia Z and laptop (MacBOok Air), also non-removable battery. Very nice to use.
laggdroids, 02 Aug 2013This time Motorolla should kickass the overhyped "Galaxies"... MOTO X FTW!!!I agreed Galaxy S4 is overhyped.
Moto X actually is not dual core as it has its own processor on top of the dual core.
John the Babtist, 02 Aug 2013I`ll stick to my simply stunning 6.18mm(all around:-) Huwaei Ascend p6 with a 1.5ghz quad core... moreThe P6 is a nice looking phone, but it doesn have some serious flaws. Weak battery life and camera and insane laggyness and unstability in everything being very important ones. Huawei didn't do a very good job with it - apart from the design.
This is why it gets bad rating from pretty much all reveiwers.
INDROID, 02 Aug 2013so thz was extra revolutionary phone from google which is going to capture the whole market of... moreNo, no other phones on the market is like this one. Apart from the Droid Ultra and MAXX. The main CPU and GPU only tells half the story. It's the effectiveness of the phone, the flawless GUI.
Most phones and rushed into productions as soon as the HW is ready and they lag like crazy. Bad experices for those who care about real life usage rather than benchmark results.
The two additional low powered cores - which actually seem to work pretty well - helps the battery last too.
Most importantly Android has been suffering from the MP race camerawise. Moto jumped off this (in a much bette way than HTC) and finally Kodak's Clear pixel technology is available.
I'm both happy and sad that this patent is now in the hands of Google/Moto. It means better quality from the small image sensors needed in their cellphones, but I would have loved to see it's effect in prosumer compacts with up to 1" sensors.
Oh my, I think USD 300 - USD 350 price is non contract price and the price will be the same if it is launched in all regions.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2013Ever heard of Exynos Octa? Galaxy S4 ships with Exynos Octa. It's a beast of a smartphone and ... moreYou will hear now Exynos Hexa coming this fall, a 16 core FALSE processor with current FALSE octa core processor, with 4 cores running in background and rest asleep. this is kinda good for samsung to blindfold the galaxy fanboys, give a name of a higher core and make money. Whats innovative in that??? Just adding multiple cores but yet same performance as its predecessors????
wow, ain't impressed neither am i disappointed am only curious what kind of reaction this phone would get if it was released by nokia..Just curious.
